How Mexican catering works in KT22

Tacos are the heart of the menu: warmed tortillas, a choice of fillings, and salsas, guacamole and toppings to finish. We can add burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas. It works well for christenings and family parties and engagement celebrations, serving loaded nachos, burritos and quesadillas.

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. Guests come up to order when service opens.

  1. Share the date, the venue and how many are coming.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

What’s near Leatherhead

Local spots for an event include homes and venues near St Andrew's Catholic School, Duke's Head Public House and River Mole LNR. You will also find Leatherhead Trinity School and Children's Centre (within half a mile north), St Andrew's Catholic School (0.6 miles north-east) and Church of Our Lady and St Peter (under half a mile north-east). Leatherhead has its own railway station: Leatherhead station. Nearby you’ll also find Walton on the Hill (3.5 miles east) and Headley Court (2.2 miles east). Open spaces near Leatherhead include Claremont Lake and Jubilee Wood.

Planning a food truck in KT22

KT22 covers everything from Leatherhead, Ashtead and Great Bookham to 1 small villages and hamlets, and a food truck or trailer can work in all of them, given access. In towns, plan parking and loading; in villages, tell us about lanes, gates and ground. Parts of KT22 are within a few miles of the Surrey Hills National Landscape, where some venues have extra rules about vehicles and catering.

Leatherhead: Reaching Leatherhead by road is easy for us, thanks to the A24 and A245. If you’re celebrating after a service at a church like Church of Our Lady and St Peter, a truck or trailer parked at a hall or garden close by can serve the meal. Around midsummer it stays light in Leatherhead until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

Who books Mexican catering?

A food truck gives guests somewhere to gather, and the smell of warm tortillas brings people over.

Big or small, a truck or trailer works well. Typical bookings include:

  • Fairs and festivals
  • Family celebrations
  • Fundraisers and school events
  • Summer garden parties

Should I do it myself?

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label anything containing allergens.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

Catering for every guest

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Mention any other caterers or courses
  • Confirm the venue is happy to have a catering vehicle
  • Give us separate numbers for children

We work around your timings, and adapt if they move.

Ask us about plates, cutlery and serving staff and we will confirm what’s possible with your quote.

What’s on the menu

Quesadillas

Toasted tortillas with melted cheese inside, cut into wedges.

Build-your-own taco bar

A taco bar is relaxed and sociable, and guests with different diets can choose what suits them, with every dish labelled.

Before you choose a spot

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but there are a few things to check:

  • Space for guests to queue
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance

Questions from KT22

What can we choose from?

Tacos, build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. Our sample menu has more detail.

How many guests can you cater for?

It depends on the event. Most bookings fall around 50 to 400 guests, but tell us your numbers and we’ll take it from there.

What do you serve?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings might include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.

Can you plan for allergies?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We plan carefully and keep options separate, though we can’t promise a dish is allergen-free. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

Who clears up?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. Ask us if you’d like help with anything else.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we do. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We’ll check the licensing for alcohol with you.
