Wedding Mexican catering for Abbotswood events

About our wedding Mexican catering in Abbotswood

Mixed diets are easier with a Mexican wedding menu: we plan vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options and give allergen information for every dish. At weddings with lots of dietary needs and receptions after an intimate ceremony, we can serve fresh guacamole and salsas, burrito bowls and evening tacos.

There’s something special about a country wedding near Abbotswood, and tacos served from a truck in a field add to it. Plan for access, soft ground and wet-weather cover for guests. We turn up ready to serve, and tidy our own area afterwards.

How the day works

We get there well before you want to serve, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. By late September, sunset in Abbotswood is around 7:10pm, so an evening taco service may start as the light fades. In late May it stays light until about 8:55pm.

  1. First, we check availability for your date.
  2. You choose the fillings, sides and extras.
  3. We confirm the plan with your venue.
  4. Food is served from the taco bar or the hatch.
  5. We serve, then pack down.

Preparing for the day

  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day

Should I do it myself?

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Dietary needs and planning tips

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Collect dietary needs on the RSVP
  • Check your date with us early
  • Have cover for guests if the weather turns
  • Flag any coeliac guests or serious allergies

After service, we clear our area; you carry on celebrating.

Nachos to share work well later in the evening.

Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Tell us what your venue needs and we’ll work to it.

What we need at the venue

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so where we park matters. These are the things we check:

  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours
  • A serving spot close to the marquee or reception area

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.

Abbotswood questions

How far is Abbotswood from central London?

It’s about 69 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Swithun's Church?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

That is confirmed with each quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we’ll talk it through.

Is Mexican street food too casual for a wedding?

It can be as relaxed or as polished as you like, depending on how it’s served.

Do you come to Abbotswood?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Abbotswood. For a quote, tell us about it on our contact page.

Do you need power and water?

It depends on the event and the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Tell us what’s available at your venue.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

Do you cook on site?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

How it compares

A plated wedding breakfast needs a kitchen and a larger team. Our food truck or trailer brings its own kitchen, and the style is more relaxed. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, as there is no kitchen to hire. Ask us for a quote.
