DIY taco night versus a caterer

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Who books wedding Mexican catering in Alkham?

Tacos work as the main meal or as evening food, so it’s flexible.

We cater all kinds of occasions in Alkham and nearby. Popular bookings include:

  • Food for evening guests
  • Farm and barn venues
  • Receptions after a small ceremony
  • Civil partnerships and vow renewals

Couples who choose a church such as Church of St Anthony the Martyr for the ceremony often pick a reception spot a short drive away. We can set up while the photos are taken.

What to look for in a quote

  • How bad weather is handled
  • How many staff are serving, and for how long
  • Where to see their hygiene rating
  • What the price includes, item by item

Dietary needs and planning tips

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Confirm the venue’s catering rules early
  • Plan a covered area for eating in case of rain
  • Collect dietary needs on the RSVP
  • Include suppliers who need feeding

We keep in touch with your venue coordinator on the day, so you do not have to.

Include your suppliers in the numbers if you add them to the final count.

Planners, venues and businesses

Hosting a party at home? Send us a photo of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we’ll tell you honestly whether a truck or trailer will fit.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Alkham questions

How far is Alkham from central London?

It is about 62 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

What’s the nearest station to Alkham for guests?

Guests can use Kearsney station, about 2.3 miles north-east of Alkham.

How long do you serve for?

It depends on your event. Timings are agreed in advance so everything fits your schedule.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Every menu is agreed with you. Fillings could include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.

What if the photos overrun?

It happens at most weddings. Food is served to order, so we can start when you are ready, even if that moves.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Send us a picture of the access and the space.

Will you talk to our venue?

Yes. We’re happy to talk to your venue about access, timings, power and water.

Space, access and the venue

If a space is not suitable, we’ll tell you, and suggest an alternative. What matters most:

  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • A clear area in front of the hatch for a queue
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we’ll tell you honestly before you book.

Taco bar wedding breakfast

A taco bar makes a relaxed main meal, with every diet covered. You choose the fillings with us.

Step by step

When we arrive, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we have agreed, so everything runs to your schedule. In Alkham, midsummer sunset is about 9:15pm, and by late September it is nearer 7:00pm, which means evening food is generally served in daylight in June and July. Later in the year, plan lighting: in December it’s dark by about 3:50pm.

  1. You send us your wedding date, venue, numbers and how you see the day.
  2. Together we choose a taco bar, evening food or both, and we send a quote.
  3. We agree access, timings, power and water with you and your venue.
  4. We arrive, set up and serve the food at the agreed times.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Preparing for the day

  • Share the running order, including any speeches
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park
  • Ask the venue about power and water
