Dietary needs and planning tips

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Here’s how:

  • Introduce us to your venue coordinator
  • Share your running order, including speeches
  • Flag any coeliac guests or serious allergies
  • Ask about your date as soon as you have one

We keep in touch with your venue coordinator on the day, so you don’t have to.

Include your suppliers in the numbers if you add them to the final count.

Should I do it myself?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

For planners, venues and organisers

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep you updated on timings and set-up.

If you are organising for someone else, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

How the day works

Service is quick and friendly: we serve from the hatch or a serving station, so even a long queue moves. When service ends, we pack down. A winter wedding in Selborne gets dark early, at about 4:00pm in December, so the evening food will be served after dark. Ask your venue what outdoor lighting it has near where we’ll park.

  1. First, we check availability for your date.
  2. You pick the menu with us.
  3. We confirm access and the serving spot with your coordinator.
  4. Food is served from the taco bar or the hatch.
  5. After serving, we clear away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer
  • Name one person we can ask on the day

Getting a price

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just send a quick message through our quote form.

Planning help

Before you choose a spot

Every venue is different, so we’ll ask about yours before we confirm. In general, we need:

  • A route in that’s wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • A serving spot close to the marquee or reception area
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.

Popular choices

  • Nachos to share
  • Burritos and bowls
  • Taco bar wedding breakfast
  • Margarita bar
  • Evening tacos
  • Guacamole and salsas

Selborne weddings: local tips

Selborne is about 4 miles south of Alton, in Hampshire. For wedding Mexican catering in Selborne, we plan around your venue and timings: a quote, a plan and friendly service on the day. We serve in all 683 towns and villages across Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Selborne to Guildford (about 19 miles away).

It helps to add rail details to the invitations, as the nearest station is Alton station, about 3.8 miles north. With a ceremony at a church such as Church of St Mary, the simplest plan is a reception close by, so guests are not travelling far before they eat. Service can start as guests arrive. A rural reception could be within reach, as the South Downs National Park is no more than about 7 miles from Selborne. Firm ground and a clear way in matter more than the view for a food truck.

Wherever your wedding is in GU34, we can bring the truck or trailer to your guests. Streets in the area include Huckers Lane, Ganders Close and Selborne Road, and a wedding on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. Neighbouring places where we cater weddings include Newton Valence (1 mile west), Empshott (2 miles south-east), Lower Green (3 miles south), Hawkley (3 miles south) and Oakshott (4 miles south). Further out, we also cater in Basingstoke (13 miles north-west), Fleet (13 miles north), Horndean (14 miles south), Aldershot (13 miles north-east), Alton (4 miles north) and Waterlooville (15 miles south).

Well-known places in the area include The Romany Museum (under half a mile south-east) and Alton Community Hospital (3.5 miles north-west). Green spaces nearby include Selborne Hill and Deadwater Valley.

  • Local pubs include The Jubilee Tap (under half a mile south)

Selborne: your questions answered

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Mary: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

How far is Selborne from London?

It is about 46 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Is the food very hot?

We can keep it mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

We confirm that with your quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we’ll talk it through.

What if the photos overrun?

We adapt. We stay in touch with your coordinator and serve when you are ready.

What food and drinks do you offer?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

Do you cook on site?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, as long as there’s access and a level, firm spot. Send us a photo of the access and the space, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it works.
