Wedding Mexican catering for Winchelsea events

How our wedding Mexican catering works in Winchelsea

Add our Mexican drinks bar for margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, with alcohol-free choices for drivers and children. Licensing is checked with you and the venue first. It suits weddings with mixed diets and civil partnerships and vow renewals, with tacos, quesadillas and loaded nachos.

Rural weddings around Winchelsea have a charm of their own, and a food truck by the barn or marquee adds to it. Plan for access, soft ground and wet-weather cover for guests. We serve from the hatch of our truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

Winchelsea questions

Do you cater at coastal events near Winchelsea?

Yes, as long as the site allows it and the ground is firm. Wind, sand and seafront permissions are the main things to plan on the coast.

Will you travel to a small place like Winchelsea?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

Do you give allergen information?

We plan allergen-aware menus, including for nut allergies, and give allergen information for every dish. We keep options separate, but we cannot promise anything is completely allergen-free. If a guest has a severe allergy, please talk to us before the event.

Can you keep it mild?

We can keep it mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

What do you need at the venue?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes, and we will tell you honestly whether it works.

Do you have vegan options?

Of course. Vegetarian and vegan fillings, such as spiced mushrooms or black beans, can be part of the menu, served alongside the meat options.

What happens if it rains?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Planning for every diet

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Have cover for guests if the weather turns
  • Give us separate day and evening numbers
  • Enquire early for summer Saturdays
  • Confirm the venue’s catering rules early

We serve evening food when the running order says, such as after the cake is cut.

Ask us about plates, cutlery and serving staff, and we will confirm what’s possible with your quote.

What’s on the menu

Evening tacos

Tacos are great evening food after a few hours of dancing.

Loaded nachos

A tray of nachos is easy to share.

Occasions we cater for in Winchelsea

Couples choose Mexican street food because it feels relaxed and generous, and it gives guests something to remember.

A truck or trailer works for big and small events alike. Typical bookings include:

  • Engagement parties
  • Sharing-style wedding meals
  • Parties after a register office wedding
  • Weddings with lots of dietary needs

Around Winchelsea, historic houses include Lamb House (2 miles north-east). If your reception is at a historic house or estate, ask early about its rules on outside caterers and vehicles.

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether plates, napkins and cutlery are included
  • Allergen information for each dish
  • If the price includes VAT
  • The caterer’s food hygiene rating

How to compare caterers

DIY taco night or a caterer?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

How it compares

Compared with formal catering, a taco bar is relaxed and sociable, but it can still feel like a celebration. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

Why book with us

  • Allergen-aware menus
  • Everything served fresh from the hatch
  • A menu built around your guests
  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar

Read how we price and our guide to catering costs.

What wedding Mexican catering costs

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • How many guests we are serving
  • How many staff you need
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • Parking and the route in

The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What we need to know

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • Expected numbers
  • What power and water the site has
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Diets and allergies you know about

We quote for each event separately, based on what you need. For a quote, fill in our quote form.

Winchelsea weddings: local tips

Winchelsea is about 7 miles north-east of Hastings, in East Sussex. We serve at weddings in homes, gardens and venues in Winchelsea and nearby villages. We serve in 289 places in East Sussex. We cater right across the region, from Winchelsea to Canterbury (29 miles away).

With a ceremony at a church such as The Parish Church of St Thomas the Martyr, the simplest plan is a reception close by, so guests are not travelling far before they eat. Some couples near Winchelsea might slip away to Rye Harbour Nature Reserve for a few photos between the ceremony and the meal. Couples near the coast, within about 3 miles of Winchelsea, sometimes want a beach feel. We need firm ground for the truck or trailer, so a clifftop lawn or venue car park may suit better than the sand.

Anywhere in TN36, we can bring the truck or trailer to your guests. Streets in the area include High Street, Barrack Square and Station Road, and a wedding on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. Nearby, we also cater weddings in Winchelsea Beach (1 mile south-east), Rye (2 miles north-east), Rye Harbour (2 miles north-east), Playden (3 miles north-east) and Rye Foreign (3 miles north). Further out, we also cater in Hastings (7 miles south-west), Bexhill-on-Sea (12 miles south-west), St Leonards (8 miles south-west), Hastings Old Town (7 miles south-west), Belmont (7 miles south-west) and Hollington (8 miles south-west).

A little further out are Winchelsea Court Hall Museum (within half a mile north-west) and Camber Castle (1.2 miles north-east). Not far away are Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.

  • Nearby schools include Rye College (2.3 miles north-east)
  • Pubs nearby include The New Inn (less than half a mile west)

How the day works

When we arrive, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. Service starts at the time we have agreed, so everything runs to your schedule. Golden-hour photos in Winchelsea at midsummer come around 9:15pm, which helps us time evening food around your photos. In late May, sunset is about 8:45pm, and in late September about 7:00pm.

  1. Tell us the date, the venue, day and evening numbers and your plans.
  2. You get a suggested wedding menu and a quote to match.
  3. Timings and where the truck or trailer will stand are agreed with your venue.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve on cue, around speeches and photos.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

Planning the serving area

Before the day, we’ll agree where we park and serve. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • A serving point within easy walk of the reception
  • Details of power and water on site, agreed when you book

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before you book.
