Planning an event in Hollingbourne?

About our Mexican catering in Hollingbourne

Our truck or trailer travels to events across Hollingbourne and nearby: gardens, fields, yards and venues with hardstanding, as long as there is safe access. We serve burritos, quesadillas and tacos, which works well for milestone birthdays and company summer parties.

Somewhere as small as Hollingbourne, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes, long drives and gates are fine if we know about them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. We serve from the hatch of our food truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

Can I do a taco night myself?

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Our taco bar guide explains how.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

The process

On the day, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we have agreed, planned around your event. A December event in Hollingbourne will be in the dark from about 3:50pm, so choose a spot where guests can see what they’re ordering. At midsummer, the light holds until around 9:15pm.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a suggested menu and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. At the agreed time, service starts from the truck or trailer.
  5. We pack away when service is over.

How to prepare

Planning a food truck in Hollingbourne

Hollingbourne is about 5 miles east of Maidstone, in Kent. We bring Mexican catering to gardens, halls and venues around Hollingbourne. We cater in all 922 towns and villages across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Hollingbourne to Canterbury (about 19 miles away).

By rail: the nearest station is Hollingbourne station, about 0.6 miles west. If you are celebrating after a service at a church like All Saints Church, a truck or trailer parked at a hall or garden close by can serve the meal. With the Kent Downs National Landscape about a mile away at most, a rural setting is never far from Hollingbourne. Country lanes there can be narrow and verges soft, so tell us about the route in.

For Mexican catering in ME17, we plan around your venue and the route in and timings. Streets in the area include Upper Street, Pilgrims Way and Hollingbourne Hill, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. Other places close to Hollingbourne for Mexican catering include Eyhorne Street (1 mile south-west), Broad Street (1 mile north-west), Chegworth (2 miles south), Ashbank (2 miles south-west) and Broomfield (2 miles south). Further out, we also cater in Maidstone (5 miles west), Ashford (13 miles south-east), Sittingbourne (7 miles north-east), Faversham (11 miles east), Minster (13 miles north-east) and Kings Hill (10 miles west).

Dietary needs and planning tips

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Tell us about coeliac guests, not just gluten-free preferences
  • Put any allergies in writing for us
  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP
  • Plan a vegan filling as well as a vegetarian one

Once everyone has eaten, we tidy up and pack away.

Burrito bowls are a good choice for anyone avoiding tortillas, and they’re easy to adapt for different diets.

Comparing your options

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, tacos make vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests easier to cater for, thanks to separate fillings and toppings. Pricing depends on the event. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Contact us for a quote.

Common questions in Hollingbourne

Do you cater in villages like Hollingbourne?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Is Hollingbourne close to London?

It is about 36 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

What if it rains?

Rain does not stop service from the hatch. Plan a marquee, gazebo or indoor space for guests to eat in.

Who clears up?

We pack down and leave our area tidy. Let us know the venue’s rules on waste and we’ll talk it through.

How many guests can you serve?

Truck and trailer service normally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Tell us your numbers.

What happens if it rains?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

What access do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a firm spot for the truck or trailer, room for a queue and, for a taco bar, space for a serving table. Send us a picture and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

What about power on site?

Tell us what the site has, such as a supply from the venue near where we will park, and we’ll confirm what we need with your quote.

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • Guest numbers
  • Serving staff
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Distance and access to the venue

The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Getting an accurate quote

To check availability and price, we need:

  • What power and water the site has
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Your menu ideas
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

The quickest way to a quote is to send us your details through our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we’ll put together a menu and price.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
