Mexican catering for Islington events

Mexican catering for your event in Islington

We plan each menu with the client, with fillings such as slow-cooked pork carnitas, chicken tinga or beef birria, and vegan options like spiced mushrooms or black beans. For charity and school events and weddings, day or evening, we can serve quesadillas, burrito bowls and burritos and more.

Events in Islington are often in courtyards, office forecourts, hired venues and gardens with side access. London gardens are often reached only through the house, so the truck or trailer may need to stay on a drive or the street, with permission. Send us a photo of the access. We’ll check the space, access and power with you before the day, so set-up goes smoothly.

Islington questions

Is parking a problem for events in Islington?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. A parking suspension may be needed, and the whole of Greater London is inside the ULEZ.

Is it possible to have you in Barnard Park?

Only with permission from whoever runs the park, often the council. Ask them first, and we’ll help with the information they need from us.

Can you keep it mild?

It is up to you: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Tell us your numbers when you ask for a quote.

Can you cater for special diets?

We plan carefully for diets and keep options separate, though we cannot guarantee a kitchen with no trace of any allergen. Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us first.

What’s on the menu?

Mexican street food: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar.

Do you need power and water?

Tell us what the site has, such as a supply from the venue near where we’ll park, and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

Do you do a taco bar?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Tell us about your space and numbers and we’ll suggest the best set-up.

A quesadilla is an easy favourite.

How the day works

Once service is over, we pack up and leave our area tidy. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. Daylight in Islington runs to about 8:50pm in late May and 7:05pm in late September. Let us know if service will run after dark, and we’ll talk about lighting.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. You get a suggested menu, with fillings agreed with you, and a quote.
  3. We check access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. We arrive, set up and cook to order, with salsas and guacamole made fresh.
  5. After service, we clear away and leave the spot tidy.

How to prepare

  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day

We need only a few details to quote: the date, where the event is, how many guests and any dietary needs. To send them, send a quick message through our quote form.

Planning help

Planning a food truck in Islington

Islington is about 3 miles north-east of City of Westminster, in Greater London. Events in Islington are planned around your venue and timings: a quote, a plan and friendly service on the day. Islington is one of 764 towns and villages in Greater London where we can bring Mexican catering.

Nearby historic houses include Dr Johnson's House (1.6 miles south) and Mansion House (1.9 miles south). Estates and historic houses tend to set their own rules for caterers, so find out what yours allows first. Parks such as Barnard Park normally need the owner’s permission for vehicles and catering, so ask before you plan an event there.

Mexican catering in N1, N7, NW1 and EC1V is planned around your venue and access and your guests. From Gibson Square, Old Royal Free Square and Cloudesley Square or a nearby road, we can bring Mexican catering there, given access. Islington sits on or near the B515 and A5203, so getting the truck or trailer to your event is simple. If your venue is just outside Islington, we also cover Pentonville (1 mile south), Angel (1 mile south), Barnsbury (1 mile north-west), Clerkenwell (1 mile south) and Lower Holloway (1 mile north-west). Further out, we also cater in London (3 miles south), City of Westminster (3 miles south-west), Kensington (5 miles south-west), Walthamstow (5 miles north-east), Hampstead (3 miles west) and Ruislip (13 miles west).

Other landmarks nearby include Brunswick Centre (1.3 miles south-west) and Queer Britain (0.8 miles west). Open spaces near Islington include Barnsbury Wood and Ludgate Hill.

Catering for every guest

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Try these:

  • Include at least one vegan filling
  • Tell us what other food is being served
  • Guests with serious allergies should speak to us in advance
  • Send allergy details to us in writing

Food is served from the hatch, order by order, so it’s hot when it reaches them.

Burrito bowls are a good choice for anyone avoiding tortillas.

Mexican catering or something else?

A plated meal needs a kitchen and a larger team. Our food truck or trailer brings its own kitchen, so we need a suitable spot, access and the venue’s permission, with power and water confirmed when you book. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we’ll suggest a menu to match. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

Why book Mobile Mexican Catering in Islington

  • We cover Islington and the whole of Greater London

What Mexican catering costs

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • Parking and the route in
  • Guest numbers
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • Staff for serving and the bar

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

What to tell us

You don’t need everything decided to ask for a quote, but these help:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • Where the event is
  • What you’d like on the menu

Getting a quote is simple: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We will send you a clear quote.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

Organising for someone else?

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

Before you choose a spot

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but a few things matter:

  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first
  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle
  • A spot away from buildings, windows and neighbours

As a London location, Islington is inside the ULEZ, and parking and loading take planning: let us know about permits, bays, off-street space or a parking suspension.

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.
