Mexican catering for The City events

The process

Expect a friendly, organised team. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our truck or trailer, and serve without fuss. Planning an evening event in The City? Sunset is around 8:55pm in late May, 9:25pm at midsummer and 7:05pm in late September. For anything running past sunset, think about lights near the hatch.

  1. Start by telling us about your event.
  2. You get a sample menu and a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day we park up, set up and serve hot food to order.
  5. We pack down after service and leave the area tidy.

Before we arrive

  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Tell us what power and water the site has

We quote for each event separately, based on what you need. For a quote, send a quick message through our quote form.

Mexican catering for your event in The City

Mobile Mexican catering means the kitchen comes to you: we park our truck or trailer on site and serve hot food from it. You do not need a kitchen at the venue. On the menu are tacos, burritos and a build-your-own taco bar, which works well for office lunches and team days and summer garden parties.

For a rural spot like The City, fields and drives need a little planning: gate widths, soft ground and the distance from the road all matter. Power and water may be limited, so we confirm the arrangements with you. We will check the space, access and power with you before the day, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Organising for someone else?

If you’re organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so everyone is served promptly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

Taco catering in The City: local tips

The City is about 5 miles north-west of High Wycombe, in Buckinghamshire. We cater events at gardens, halls and venues around The City and the surrounding area. We cater in 263 places across Buckinghamshire, from the larger towns to small villages, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. Our truck and trailer cover the area from The City to Reading (15 miles away).

For guests coming by train, the nearest station is Saunderton station, about 1.8 miles north-east. Close to The City are historic houses such as West Wycombe Park House (2.7 miles south-east) and Hughenden Manor (4.4 miles east). If your event is at a historic house or estate, check its rules on outside caterers and vehicles early. Venues in and around the Chilterns National Landscape, within about 2 miles of The City, sometimes limit where vehicles can go. Ask yours about access for a truck or trailer before you book.

For Mexican catering in HP14, we plan around your venue and the route in and your guests. Local streets include Bottle Square Lane, Radnage Common Road and Green Lane; for an event at home on any of them, tell us where the truck or trailer can park. For events just outside The City, we cover Waterend (1 mile west), Beacon's Bottom (1 mile south-west), Radnage (1 mile north), Bennett End (1 mile north-west) and Green End (1 mile south-east). Further out, we also cater in Aylesbury (11 miles north), High Wycombe (5 miles south-east), Chesham (11 miles east), Marlow (7 miles south-east), Amersham (11 miles east) and Beaconsfield (10 miles east).

What we need at the venue

We’ll agree the spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • A route in that’s wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • Agreement from the venue to bring a food truck or trailer on site

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

What Mexican catering costs

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • What’s on the menu
  • How many staff you need
  • Guest numbers
  • Timings and hours

Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

What we need to know

You do not need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Where the event is
  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • The date and rough timings

Not sure what you need yet? No problem: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will make suggestions. To start, send a quick message through our quote form.

Questions from The City

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of St Paul?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Do you come out to small places like The City?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Do you serve in the rain?

The truck or trailer serves in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered to eat.

When should we book?

The sooner the better. Peak dates go quickly, so get in touch early.

What space do you need?

Level, firm ground, access for the truck or trailer and the venue’s agreement. Power and water are confirmed with each booking.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

Please ask us. Tell us what your venue provides, and we’ll confirm what’s included with your quote.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down and leave our area tidy. Tell us the venue’s rules on waste and clearing up and we will confirm the arrangements with your quote.

Should I do it myself?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles allergen information for you.

Planning for every diet

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Include at least one vegan filling
  • Let us know if a guest is coeliac
  • Confirm the venue is happy to have a catering vehicle
  • Put guests with severe allergies in touch with us early

If you’ve chosen a taco bar, the fillings, salsas and toppings go out on a serving table, and guests build their own.

Ask us about plates, cutlery and serving staff and we will set out what we can do in your quote.

Who books Mexican catering in The City?

Mixed diets are easy to plan for, because guests choose their own fillings and toppings. Vegetarian and vegan guests get a proper meal, not an afterthought.

Here are some of the events we cater in The City and Buckinghamshire:

  • Weddings, day or evening
  • Retirement and leaving parties
  • Charity and school events
  • Milestone birthdays

When the service is at a church such as Church of St Paul, the food typically happens elsewhere, at a field, hall or garden with room for the truck.

What your quote should include

  • When payment is due
  • What happens if it rains
  • How late numbers can change
  • How each diet is kept separate

How it compares

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, Mexican street food is easier for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, because fillings and toppings are kept separate. Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire. Contact us for a quote to compare.
