How to compare caterers

How our Mexican catering works in Twydall

Truck and trailer service usually suits around 50 to 400 guests. Larger festivals and smaller parties are looked at case by case, so tell us your numbers. Popular choices include quesadillas, burrito bowls and burritos, and it’s a good fit for office lunches and team days and christenings and family parties.

In and around Twydall, gardens and local halls are common choices. If the road in is narrow or the ground is soft, tell us so we can plan for the truck or trailer. Guests are served from our food truck or trailer, or from a serving table nearby, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

Diets, allergies and planning

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because options can be kept separate. A few tips:

  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed
  • Tell us what other food is being served
  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Plan somewhere covered for guests to eat if it rains

We have allergen information for every dish at the hatch, and guests are welcome to ask before ordering.

Burrito bowls suit guests who’d rather skip the tortilla.

Build-your-own taco bar

Fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings laid out for guests to help themselves, with warm tortillas to fill. Each guest makes tacos their way.

Burritos and burrito bowls

A big flour tortilla wrapped round rice, beans, a filling and toppings, or served as a bowl instead.

The process

When we arrive, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. Service starts at the time we’ve agreed, so everything runs to your schedule. In Twydall, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. We plan a menu that covers every diet.
  3. We confirm the way in and where we will park.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. We clear our serving area when everyone is fed.

Preparing for the day

  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough

Planning help

Twydall: your questions answered

How far is Twydall from London?

It’s about 31 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

We are having a ceremony at Holy Trinity Church: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Do you bring plates and cutlery?

That’s confirmed with each quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we will talk it through.

Who clears up?

We clear our own area when service is finished. Ask us if you’d like help with anything else.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Do you come to Twydall?

We do. We serve at events in Twydall and across Medway. Tell us your date and we’ll check availability.

What is mobile Mexican catering?

We arrive with our own mobile kitchen. We set up at your venue, serve hot food to order and pack down afterwards.

Where do you cater?

We cover London and the South East, including Medway. Find your area.

For planners, venues and organisers

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

Is Mexican catering right for your event?

Burgers and pizza are what guests often expect. Mexican street food stands out, yet it’s still food most guests know and like. Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you choose what goes in.

Before you choose a spot

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but a few things matter:

  • Room for a queue in front of the serving hatch
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.
