Mexican catering in Wood's Corner, from our truck or trailer

A build-your-own taco bar is one of the most sociable ways to feed a crowd. Guests fill their own tortillas from the fillings, salsas and toppings, so nobody ends up with something they do not want. Popular choices include quesadillas, a build-your-own taco bar and loaded nachos, which works well for family celebrations and office lunches and team days.

In a rural place like Wood's Corner, access is the main thing to plan: the gate, the ground and the route from the lane. We confirm power and water arrangements with you before the day. Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free included, and we give allergen information for every dish.

Is Mexican catering right for your event?

With a barbecue, someone typically ends up stuck at the grill. With us, the cooking happens in our truck or trailer. Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Your quote confirms the full price.

Your questions about Mexican catering in Wood's Corner

What’s the nearest station to Wood's Corner for guests?

The closest is Stonegate station, roughly 5 miles away.

We’re having a ceremony at The Parish Church of St Giles: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Send us the reception address.

Who clears up?

We pack down and leave our area tidy. Tell us the venue’s rules on waste and clearing up and we will talk it through.

Can you do dairy-free food?

We can. We offer dairy-free options, and we will tell you which dishes contain milk.

How long are you on site?

It depends on your event. Timings are agreed in advance to suit your day.

What if the weather’s bad?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

How is the food prepared?

We slow-cook fillings ahead, then finish them and keep them hot at your event. Tortillas are warmed on site, and salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

What can we choose from?

Tacos, build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. Our sample menu has more detail.

Catering an event in Wood's Corner

Wood's Corner is about 8 miles north-east of Hailsham, in East Sussex. Wherever your event is in the TN21 area, we’ll come to your venue or site. We cover all 289 towns and villages in East Sussex, from the larger towns to small villages. Our nearest city page is Brighton, about 23 miles away.

Close to Wood's Corner are historic houses such as Bateman's (2.9 miles north). Venues like these often limit where vehicles can go, so ask about access before booking one. A school such as Dallington Church of England Primary School running a summer fair or fundraiser could book a taco truck. The High Weald National Landscape is within about 4 miles of Wood's Corner, with country venues and gardens that can suit a food truck. Some venues in protected landscapes have rules about vehicles and catering, so check with yours.

Here we cover the TN21 postcode area. Close by, we cover events in Dallington (1 mile west), Rushlake Green (2 miles west), Brownbread Street (3 miles south), Punnett's Town (3 miles west) and Ashburnham (3 miles south-east). Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Dietary needs and planning tips

With a little notice, most diets are easy. Our advice:

  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed
  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Guests with serious allergies should speak to us in advance

For a taco bar, we lay the fillings, salsas and toppings out on a table, and guests help themselves while we keep it topped up.

A tray of loaded nachos works well to start or as a late snack.

The process

We arrive in good time before service, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. In Wood's Corner, the sun sets at about 9:15pm in late June and about 7:00pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. We suggest a sample menu and send a quote for your event.
  3. We check access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. On the day we arrive, set up and serve hot food from our food truck or trailer.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

Preparing for the day

  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely

Prices and what affects them

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, depending on:

  • How many guests we are serving
  • Distance and access to the venue
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Staff for serving and the bar

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you choose what goes in.

Getting an accurate quote

To speed things up, tell us:

  • Expected numbers
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Where the event is
  • Whether you’d like food, drinks or both

Send us the date, your venue or TN21 postcode and guest numbers, along with any dietary needs, and we will reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just drop us a line using the enquiry form.

What we need at the venue

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle
  • A clear area in front of the hatch for a queue
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before you book.
