DIY taco night or a caterer?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Questions from Wye

Which station should guests use for Wye?

Guests can use Wye station, which is right in Wye.

We’re having a ceremony at Church of Saint Gregory and Saint Martin: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

How does mobile Mexican catering work?

We arrive with our own mobile kitchen. We set up, serve your guests and clear away when service ends.

How big an event can you cater?

It depends on the menu and how long service runs, but our truck and trailer service generally suits around 50 to 400 guests. For anything outside that, ask us.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we will go through the licensing with you.

How is the food prepared?

Food is cooked to order in our truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Fillings are slow-cooked beforehand and finished on site.

What do you serve?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.

Do you come to Wye?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Wye is within our area. For a quote, use our quote form.

Wye: venues, access and local tips

Wye is about 4 miles north-east of Ashford, in Kent. Tell us where your event in Wye will be, and we will plan the journey and set-up before the day. We serve in 922 places across Kent, from the larger towns to small villages, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Wye to Canterbury (about 9 miles away).

When the service is at a church such as Church of Saint Gregory and Saint Martin, the food typically happens elsewhere, at a field, hall or garden with room for the truck. Close to Wye are historic houses such as Godinton House (4.8 miles west). Venues like these often limit where vehicles can go, so ask about access before booking one. With the Kent Downs National Landscape about a mile away at most, a rural setting is never far from Wye. Country lanes there can be narrow and verges soft, so tell us about the route in.

Here we cover the TN25 postcode area, so your event can be anywhere in it. Whether your event is on High Street, Church Street and The Green or a nearby road, we can bring Mexican catering there, given access. Nearby, we also cater events in Kempe's Corner (1 mile west), Boughton Corner (1 mile north-west), Boughton Aluph (1 mile north-west), Brook (2 miles south-east) and Folly Town (2 miles south-east). About the menu

Quesadillas

A quesadilla is an easy favourite.

Build-your-own taco bar

A serving table of fillings, salsas and toppings, with tortillas kept warm. Everyone builds their own.

How we price Mexican catering

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • How many staff you need
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Distance and access to the venue

Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. Every event gets its own quote.

What we need to know

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • A picture of the space, if it’s a garden or field
  • Roughly how many adults and children

The quickest way to a quote is to fill in our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we’ll suggest a menu to suit.

Space, access and the venue

Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but a few things matter:

  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • Room for a serving table for the taco bar
  • Space for guests to queue

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.

What we offer

  • Tacos
  • Quesadillas
  • Loaded nachos
  • Build-your-own taco bar
  • Burrito bowls
  • Burritos

Comparing your options

Next to a hog roast or a barbecue, Mexican street food is easier for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, thanks to separate fillings and toppings. Access, parking and the distance to your venue can affect the price, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

Why book with us

  • Allergen-aware menus
  • Book food, drinks or both
  • Access, space and power checked in advance
  • Quick, friendly service from the hatch

Dietary needs and planning tips

Most events have a mix of diets. To cater well for them:

  • Include at least one vegan filling
  • Tell us what other food is being served
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Collect dietary needs when guests reply

Once everyone has eaten, we tidy up and pack away quietly.

Loaded nachos make a good sharing starter.

Step by step

The truck or trailer tends to draw a crowd, so we will help you choose a spot with room for a queue. We can serve in the rain, though guests will want somewhere covered to stand or sit. Evenings in Wye stay light until about 9:15pm in June, but by late September sunset is around 7:00pm. Festoon lights or floodlights help once it gets dark.

  1. Start by telling us about your event.
  2. We suggest fillings and extras and send a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. We arrive, set up and serve from the hatch.
  5. Once service ends, we clear away.

Preparing for the day

  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Tell us what power and water the site has
