Mexican bar hire for Christmas Common events

Should I do it myself?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

Questions to ask before booking

For planners, venues and organisers

Throwing a party at home? Send us a photo of the space and tell us about the drive and gates, and we’ll let you know if it is a good fit.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we’ll keep you updated on timings and set-up.

Step by step

On the day, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. We are ready to serve at the agreed time, planned around your event. At midsummer, it’s light in Christmas Common until about 9:25pm, ideal for drinks outdoors. In late September it is dark around 7:10pm, and in December by about 3:55pm, so evening bars need lighting.

  1. We check availability.
  2. We suggest margaritas, beer, aguas frescas and alcohol-free choices.
  3. We confirm power, water and the bar spot.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. When the bar shuts, we clear away.

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • How many guests we are serving

Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Christmas Common: your questions answered

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of the Nativity?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Will you travel to a small place like Christmas Common?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we’ll go through the licensing with you.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes. We can keep dishes mild, and simple options such as quesadillas or nachos can be part of the menu. Tell us how many children are coming.

Do you need electricity?

That depends on the set-up, so we confirm power and water arrangements with each booking. Let us know whether there’s a supply near where we’ll park.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes. Dairy-free options are part of our menus.

Can you come to a private house?

That depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we will advise.

Do you do drinks only?

Yes, though it pairs well with tacos. Our Mexican catering can be added too.
