Choosing a Mexican caterer

Mexican bar hire for your event in Whiteley

A Mexican drinks bar brings margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas to your event, served by our bar staff. It works on its own or alongside our food. For winter celebrations and mexican-themed parties, we can serve aguas frescas, soft drinks and Mexican beer and more.

In Whiteley, a drinks bar works at home or in a local hall, with access for the truck or trailer. Aguas frescas and soft drinks cover guests who are not drinking alcohol. Guests are served from our truck or trailer, or from a serving table nearby, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

How the day works

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. Rain does not typically stop us serving, but guests will need somewhere covered. In December, the light goes in Whiteley at about 4:00pm, so an outdoor bar needs lighting from the start. Midsummer is the opposite, with daylight until about 9:20pm.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and the drinks you have in mind.
  2. We talk licensing through with you: the venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice.
  3. We put together a drinks menu, with alcohol-free choices, and quote for it.
  4. On the day, our bar staff serve drinks responsibly at the agreed times.
  5. After service, we clear the bar away.

Getting ready for the day

  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough

Prices and what affects them

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, depending on:

  • Guest numbers
  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Your choice of food and drinks

Extra dishes, drinks and longer service are priced on request, so you can choose what you need.

What to tell us

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Your menu ideas
  • Expected numbers
  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • A picture of where we’d park

It is easy to get a price: tell us the date, place, numbers and any dietary needs. We’ll come back with a clear quote and a suggested menu.

What we need at the venue

We will be honest if a space won’t work, and suggest an alternative. The main points are:

  • A spot away from neighbours’ windows if the bar runs late
  • Level, firm ground for the bar set-up
  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think.

What we offer

  • Fruit aguas frescas
  • Agua de jamaica (hibiscus)
  • Horchata
  • Margaritas
  • Soft drinks
  • Mexican beer

Mexican bar hire or something else?

A standard bar is fine, but margaritas and aguas frescas give the bar character. The price depends on guest numbers, the menu and how long you’d like us to serve, plus any add-ons and the location. We quote for each event individually.

What you get with us

  • Every guest catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free included
  • Quoted for your event
  • Book food, drinks or both
  • A menu built around your guests

Questions from Whiteley

Which station is closest to Whiteley?

Guests can use Swanwick station, about 0.8 miles south-west of Whiteley.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Margaret Mary?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Can we book the bar without food?

Of course. Ask about adding tacos and burritos.

How long are you on site?

We get there well before service to set up. The length of service is agreed when you book.

Do you do parties at home?

That depends on access. If the truck or trailer can’t reach the garden, a drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission. Send us a photo and we will talk it through.

What do you need at the venue?

Access and level ground matter most: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. Send us a photo and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

How spicy is the food?

It is up to you: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

Can you serve in the rain?

We can serve from the hatch in the rain. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Planning the bar

Some planning tips for the drinks:

  • Give us numbers for children
  • Plan transport home for guests
  • Add food if the bar runs for a while
  • Include aguas frescas for non-drinkers

We can give allergen information for every drink.
