Selling questions

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the Kent Downs National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

What’s the nearest station to Selling for guests?

Selling station, about 0.8 miles north-east of the centre.

What happens if it rains?

Rain does not typically stop service from the truck or trailer. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Which areas do you serve?

We cover London and the South East, including Kent. See all areas.

How spicy is the food?

That’s your choice: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Of course. Vegetarian and vegan fillings, such as spiced mushrooms or black beans, can be part of the menu.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

Yes, on request. Let us know your dairy-free numbers, and we’ll plan the menu around them.

How much space do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water with you for each booking.

Event catering near Selling

Selling is about 3 miles south-east of Faversham, in Kent. Across the ME13 area, we can bring the truck or trailer to you. We cover 922 places in Kent, from the larger towns to small villages. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Selling to Canterbury (about 7 miles away).

Rail travel is an option for visitors, as the nearest station is Selling station, about 0.8 miles north-east. For a church fête or fundraiser, at a church such as Church of St Mary, a taco truck adds hot food to the cakes and tombola. Events in and around the Kent Downs National Landscape, within about 7 miles of Selling, often have rules about vehicles, ground and waste; we will follow the site’s requirements.

We serve at events all over ME13 and the streets around it. Streets in the area include Selling Road, Selling Court and Vicarage Lane, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. If your venue is just outside Selling, we also cover Perrywood (1 mile south), Hogben's Hill (1 mile west), Gushmere (1 mile north), Neames Forstal (1 mile east) and Crouch (1 mile north-east). We also cater in nearby towns such as Ashford (9 miles south), Canterbury (7 miles east), Sittingbourne (10 miles north-west), Whitstable (7 miles north-east), Faversham (3 miles north-west) and Herne Bay (11 miles north-east).

Organising for someone else?

If you are booking for a business, tell us what your finance team needs, and we’ll explain how it works. We’re happy to liaise with facilities on access and timings.

If you are planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles allergen information for you.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

What Mexican street food costs

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • Timings and hours
  • How many guests we are serving
  • Whether you need disposables
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, as there is no kitchen to hire. Contact us for a quote to compare.

What to tell us

To check availability and price, we need:

  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • The venue or postcode
  • Your date and when you want service to start

To get a price, just use our quote form. Give us the details of your event, and we will put together a menu and price.

What happens on the day

We arrive in good time before service, set up the truck or trailer and get everything ready. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. A December market in Selling loses the light at about 3:50pm, so site lighting matters for traders and visitors alike. By contrast, a midsummer fair stays light until about 9:15pm.

  1. Send the event name, expected visitors and pitch size.
  2. You get our menu and pitch requirements.
  3. Power, water and access are agreed in advance.
  4. We plan to be ready for the lunchtime rush.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.

Before we arrive

  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Choose a level, firm spot for the truck or trailer

How to get a price
