Can I do a taco night myself?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

How our wedding Mexican catering works in Totland

A food truck or trailer suits barns, marquees, gardens and venues with hardstanding, provided there’s safe access and level, firm ground. Popular choices include loaded nachos, quesadillas and burrito bowls, and it suits gatherings the day after a wedding and big weddings with every diet.

In Totland, a local ceremony and a marquee reception is a personal choice. A truck or trailer parked by the marquee fits right in. Tell us about access to the field or garden. Every guest is catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included, with allergen information for everything we serve.

Weddings in Totland: venues, ceremonies and travel

Totland is about 5 miles south of Lymington, in the Isle of Wight. Across the PO39 area, we will come to your venue or site. Totland is one of 125 places in the Isle of Wight we cover. You can also see our page for Southampton, about 18 miles away.

Tennyson Down nearby could make a lovely backdrop for photos. With the coast within about a mile, a seaside-style wedding is an option. Coastal wind, sand and seafront access all need planning for a truck or trailer.

Wherever your wedding is in PO39 and PO40, we can bring wedding Mexican catering to you. From Meadow Barn Close, Ward Road and Weston Road or a nearby road, we can bring wedding Mexican catering there, given access. With the B3322 close by, Totland is easy for us to reach with the truck or trailer for your wedding. Neighbouring places where we cater weddings include Colwell (1 mile north-east), Freshwater (1 mile east), Easton (1 mile east), Norton Green (1 mile north-east) and Afton (1 mile east). Within a short drive, we also cover Newport (11 miles east), Cowes (12 miles north-east), East Cowes (12 miles north-east), Barton (11 miles east), Hunny Hill (11 miles east) and Cross Lane (11 miles east). Space, access and the venue

We serve from a truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle
  • Space for guests to queue
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours

Totland is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we’ll plan the journey and access for the truck or trailer.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

Wedding Mexican catering or something else?

If you’re weighing up a taco bar against a traditional menu, think about your venue, your guests’ diets and the feel of the day. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, along with extras and where your event is. Every event gets its own quote.

What we offer in Totland

  • Catering across the Isle of Wight, including Totland
  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • Allergen-aware menus
  • Fast service, even with a queue

Take a look at our prices page or the cost guide.

What wedding Mexican catering costs

We quote for your event, which reflects:

  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • What the venue already provides
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • How many guests we are serving

The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, since the set-up is much the same either way. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

Getting an accurate quote

The more we know about your wedding, the better we can plan. Try to include:

  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • A picture of where we’d park
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children

We quote for each event separately, based on what you need. To ask for one, tell us about it on our contact page.

Diets, allergies and planning

A little planning makes sure everyone can eat. Here’s how:

  • Count day and evening guests separately
  • Think about a covered space for wet weather
  • Flag any coeliac guests or serious allergies
  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs

We keep in touch with your venue coordinator on the day, so you do not have to.

Loaded nachos make easy evening food.

Totland: your questions answered

Can you cater a reception after a service at Christ Church?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Do you cater at coastal events near Totland?

Yes, with permission for the spot and firm ground for the truck or trailer. Seafront and beach spots typically need permission, and wind is the main thing to plan for.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we do that for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

Do you have gluten-free options?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn is naturally gluten-free, though some sauces and toppings can contain gluten, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we do. Our drinks bar can be booked on its own or with food, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. For alcohol, we will check the licensing with you and your venue.

Can you cater the whole day?

We can. We can do a taco bar for the main meal and tacos or nachos for the evening.

What do you serve?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

What if the weather’s bad?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

How it works

On the day, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. Service starts at the time we have agreed, so everything runs to your schedule. In Totland, midsummer sunset is about 9:20pm, and by late September it’s nearer 7:10pm, so evening tacos are typically served in daylight in high summer. For autumn and winter weddings, when it’s dark by about 4:05pm in December, plan lighting around the truck or trailer.

  1. We start with your date, venue, guest numbers and ideas for the day.
  2. You get a suggested wedding menu and a quote to match.
  3. Timings and where the truck or trailer will stand are agreed with your venue.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve on cue, around speeches and photos.
  5. Once service is done, we pack away quietly.

Getting ready for the day

  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Tell us when you want service to start

Events we cater in Totland

It feels like your wedding, not a standard menu.

A truck or trailer suits almost any gathering. People in Totland can book us for occasions like:

  • Parties after a register office wedding
  • Late-evening wedding food
  • Civil partnerships and vow renewals
  • Rustic barn weddings

With a ceremony at a church such as Christ Church, the simplest plan is a reception close by, so guests are not travelling far before they eat. We can set up while the photos are taken.

What your quote should include

  • How dietary needs and allergies are handled
  • When payment is due
  • Plates and napkins, or nothing at all
  • The wet-weather plan
