How our food truck hire works in Little Barrington

The truck or trailer is a working kitchen on wheels, so there’s no need for kitchen space at the venue. What we do need is level ground, a way in and the venue’s agreement, with power and water confirmed per booking. It works well for garden parties and engagements and anniversaries, serving burrito bowls, tacos from the hatch and burritos.

Near Little Barrington, a hired food truck in a field or garden suits private parties and work away days alike. Guests order at the hatch, so plan a sheltered spot for the queue in case of rain. Every guest is catered for, vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free included, and we give allergen information for every dish.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Most events have a mix of diets. To plan for them:

  • Guests with serious allergies should contact us first
  • Email us any allergies
  • Look into parking permissions if the truck can’t go off-road
  • Share your running order

Service starts when your timings say, and we cook each order as it comes.

Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas from our drinks bar can be added to the booking.

How it works

Once service is over, we pack up and leave our area tidy. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. A Christmas party in Little Barrington with a hired food truck will be in the dark from about 4:00pm, so choose a well-lit spot for the truck or trailer. At midsummer, sunset is around 9:30pm.

  1. Tell us the date, the location, rough numbers and any diets.
  2. We suggest a menu for the hatch and quote for it.
  3. Where the truck or trailer will stand, the route in, and power and water are all agreed in advance.
  4. We arrive, open the hatch and cook to order for your guests.
  5. Once guests are fed, we clear our area and head off.

Preparing for the day

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in

Little Barrington: your questions answered

Will you travel to a small place like Little Barrington?

Yes, small places are no problem, given access. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

We are having a ceremony at Church of St Peter: can you cater afterwards?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. We’d serve at the reception venue rather than at the church itself. Tell us where the reception will be.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, as long as there is access and a level, firm spot. Send us a photo of the access and the space.

Do you have options for kids?

Of course. We can keep dishes mild, and simple options such as quesadillas or nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

What does it cost to hire the truck?

We don’t publish set prices, because each hire is different. Tell us your plans and we’ll quote for your event. See the Mexican catering cost guide for background.

What does hiring your food truck involve?

You book the truck or trailer for set hours at your event. We cook, serve and clear away.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Please ask us. Tell us what your venue provides, and we will confirm what’s included with your quote.

How long are you on site?

That depends on your event and menu. Timings are agreed in advance so everything fits your schedule.

Working with your venue

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Little Barrington? Service from a truck or trailer is quick, even for a crowd, and the menu can suit most diets. Give us the details and we’ll suggest a plan.

What we need at the venue

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We look for:

  • Power and water, confirmed with each booking
  • Seating or standing room near the truck
  • Firm, level ground or hardstanding where the truck or trailer can park

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.
