About our food truck hire in Mop End

Food truck hire suits weddings, milestone birthdays and staff events, and any gathering where guests want hot food without a sit-down meal. We serve quesadillas, burrito bowls and vegan tacos, which works well for staff summer parties and engagements and anniversaries.

In a rural place like Mop End, access is the main thing to plan for a hired truck: the gate, the ground and the distance from the lane. Power and water may be limited, so we confirm the arrangements before the day. Your quote sets out what’s included: the menu, the service time and any extras you choose.

Step by step

When we arrive, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. We are ready to serve at the agreed time, so everything runs to your schedule. At midsummer, it stays light in Mop End until about 9:25pm, and by late September sunset is about 7:05pm. In December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so the queue by the hatch needs lighting.

  1. Share your plans for the event.
  2. We suggest fillings and dishes for every diet.
  3. We check power, water and timings with the venue.
  4. Service runs at the times you choose.
  5. When everyone is fed, we clear our area.

How to prepare

  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough

Where the truck can go in Mop End

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space before we confirm. Generally, we look for:

  • The landowner’s go-ahead for the truck or trailer
  • A clear area for a queue at the hatch
  • Level, solid ground for the vehicle

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Nothing is needed from a venue kitchen, so gardens, fields and grounds all become options.

  • Launch events
  • Back-garden parties
  • Staff appreciation days
  • Wedding receptions

For guests coming by train, Amersham station is about 2.6 miles away.

  • Plates and napkins, or nothing at all

Our caterer checklist

Should I do it myself?

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

What affects the price in Mop End

Pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • Timings and hours
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • Guest numbers

Pricing depends on the event. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Your quote sets it all out.

What we need to know

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • The address or venue name

Every quote is put together for your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll confirm whether we’re available that day.

Common questions in Mop End

What’s the nearest station to Mop End for guests?

Guests can use Amersham station, about 2.6 miles east of Mop End.

Can you cater a reception after a service at Church of the Holy Trinity?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

What does food truck hire cost?

Every event is quoted individually, based on what you actually need. Tell us your date and numbers and we’ll reply with a quote.

What’s on the menu?

Mexican street food: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. We also run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

Do you do food truck hire for weddings?

The truck or trailer can serve the wedding breakfast, evening food or both. Timings are agreed with you and your venue. Read more in having a food truck at a wedding.

Can we hire a bar too?

You can add our drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. We will go through the licensing with you.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we’ll check the licensing with you.

Is the food made fresh?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

Is food truck hire right for your event?

Booking several street food trucks means juggling several suppliers. One truck with tacos, burritos and nachos is one booking to manage. When you compare quotes, check what each one includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Our quote sets out what’s included.
