What food truck hire costs

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • Guest numbers
  • Food, drinks or both
  • Travel, parking and access
  • Staff for serving and the bar

Pricing depends on the event. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Your quote sets it all out.

What we need to know

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what’s useful:

  • What power and water the site has
  • The date and rough timings
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Roughly how many adults and children

Not sure what you need yet? That’s fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will make suggestions. When you are ready, fill in our quote form.

How our food truck hire works in Sheerness

When you hire our food truck, it serves your guests and nobody else. Unlike a stall at a festival or market, it’s a private hire, so the menu and timings are set around your event. It suits parties in venue grounds and back-garden parties, serving tacos from the hatch, vegan tacos and burritos.

In and around Sheerness, our food truck or trailer can work at home, in a field or at a hall. If the road in is narrow or the ground soft, tell us so we can plan. Every guest is catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included, with allergen information for everything we serve.

Is food truck hire right for your event?

Hiring a food truck is different from finding one at a festival. At a festival we trade to the public; when you hire us, we serve only your guests, on your timings. Extra dishes, drinks and longer service are priced on request, so you can choose what you need.

What we offer in Sheerness

Planning the serving area

Everything is served from our truck or trailer, so where we park matters. Here’s what we look for:

  • Some space between the truck and nearby homes
  • Level, solid ground for the vehicle
  • Space in front of the hatch for guests to queue

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before booking.

Who books food truck hire in Sheerness?

The truck becomes the place guests gather.

We can help if you are planning any of the following:

  • Summer parties at home
  • Wedding receptions
  • Private outdoor parties
  • Big birthdays

When the service is at a church such as Parish Church of the Holy Trinity, the truck would serve at the reception venue rather than at the church.

What to look for in a quote

  • The deposit and payment dates
  • How bad weather is handled
  • How many staff are serving, and for how long
  • What the price includes, item by item

Choosing a Mexican caterer

What happens on the day

Serving is quick: guests are served at the hatch or a serving station, so a crowd is looked after quickly. When service ends, we pack down. A hired food truck at a summer event in Sheerness can serve in daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer, while late September brings sunset forward to around 7:00pm. In December it is dark by about 3:50pm, so the queue by the hatch needs lighting.

  1. Send us your date, the address, a headcount and dietary needs.
  2. We check availability and send a menu and a quote for hiring the truck or trailer.
  3. We confirm the parking spot, access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. We arrive, open the hatch and cook to order for your guests.
  5. Once guests are fed, we clear our area and head off.

How to prepare

  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Share the running order, including any speeches

Catering for every guest

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because options can be kept separate. A few tips:

  • Ask guests with severe allergies to speak to us beforehand
  • Send allergy details in writing
  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Look into parking permissions if the truck cannot go off-road

We keep allergen information for every dish at the hatch.

Our Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas can join the truck.

Sheerness questions

Could you serve our guests after a service at Parish Church of the Holy Trinity?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Could you serve in Barton's Point Coastal Park?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we will send what they need from us.

What do you need at the venue?

Access and level ground matter most: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. Send us a picture and tell us about gates, slopes and soft ground.

Can you cater for special diets?

Diets are planned with you in advance, though we cannot guarantee there are no traces of any allergen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us first.

How long do you serve for?

It depends on your event. We agree arrival, service and pack-down times with you so everything fits your schedule.

Can you do dairy-free food?

Yes, we can. Let us know your dairy-free numbers, and we’ll include them in the plan.

What happens if it rains?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

What’s on the menu?

Mexican street food: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, plus salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.
