How to compare caterers

Planning for every diet

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Here’s how you can help:

  • Measure gates and look for low branches on the way in
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to speak to us beforehand
  • Add a dietary question to the invitation
  • Count children separately

Guests order at the hatch and their food is handed out hot.

A taco-bar station can sit next to the truck.

Planners, venues and businesses

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we’ll work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

Whitehill: parking, access and venues

Whitehill is about 6 miles south-east of Alton, in Hampshire. We cater events at gardens, halls and venues around Whitehill. We cover all 683 towns and villages in Hampshire, from the larger towns to small villages, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. Our nearest city page is Basingstoke, about 15 miles away.

After a service at a church such as St Mark's Sacred Church, a hired food truck at a garden, field or venue nearby can feed everyone. Rail travellers will be glad to hear that Liphook station is about 3.7 miles away. With the Surrey Hills National Landscape within about 6 miles, a rural setting for your private or work event is within reach. Firm ground and a clear way in matter most for the truck or trailer.

Wherever your event is in GU35, we can bring the truck or trailer to your guests, from busy streets to quiet lanes. What food truck hire costs

Here’s what makes the biggest difference to the price:

  • What the venue already provides
  • Serving staff
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • The menu you choose

Pricing depends on the event. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Contact us for a quote.

Details that help

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • The address or venue name
  • Your menu ideas
  • Expected numbers

Send us the date, your venue or GU35 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and you’ll get menu ideas and a price. To get started, tell us about it on our contact page.

Comparing your options

A private hire is not the same as a festival stall. At a festival we trade to the public; a private hire means your guests, your menu and your timings. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

Why us?

  • Menus chosen with you
  • Options for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests
  • Events in Whitehill and across Hampshire
  • Food and drinks from one caterer, if you want both

Common questions in Whitehill

Is Whitehill close to London?

It is about 43 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Mark's Sacred Church?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

How does private food truck hire work?

Our food truck or trailer comes to your venue and serves your guests from the hatch. Only your guests are served.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. For alcohol, we will talk licensing through with you and your venue.

Can guests build their own tacos?

We can. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from. Read our taco bar guide.

Do you come to Whitehill?

We do. Whitehill is one of the places we cover. Tell us your date and we will check availability.

What do you need at the venue?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding, access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water when you book.

Can we add drinks?

You can add our drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Licensing is checked with you.

Before you choose a spot

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • Arrangements for power and water, agreed when you book
  • A parking suspension, where a street spot is needed
  • Gate widths, overhead branches and soft ground checked in advance

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

How the day works

Expect a friendly, organised team. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our food truck or trailer, and get on with serving. By late September, it’s dark in Whitehill at around 7:05pm, so evening service from the truck may run past dusk. In late May, daylight lasts until about 8:55pm.

  1. Tell us the date, the location, rough numbers and any diets.
  2. We check availability and send a menu and a quote for hiring the truck or trailer.
  3. We confirm the parking spot, access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. Your guests order at the hatch and we serve hot food at the agreed times.
  5. After service, we close the hatch, pack down and drive away.
