How to compare caterers

About our Mexican catering in Aldgate

We bring our truck or trailer to events in and around Aldgate: gardens, fields, yards and venues with hardstanding. On the menu are burritos, fresh salsas and guacamole and tacos, and it’s a good fit for company summer parties and birthday parties.

In Aldgate, a courtyard, a venue forecourt or a garden with drive access can work well. London gardens are often reached only through the house, so the truck or trailer may need to stay on a drive or the street, with permission. Tell us about the route in. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Should I do it myself?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Where the truck can go in Aldgate

Before the day, we will agree where we park and serve. It needs to meet a few simple requirements:

  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • Room for a serving table for the taco bar
  • Room for a queue in front of the serving hatch

In Aldgate, as everywhere in Greater London, the ULEZ applies and kerb space is limited. Where will the truck or trailer stop? A drive, a courtyard or a suspended bay can all work.

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we will tell you honestly before booking.

How we price Mexican catering

Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:

  • What the venue already provides
  • The number of people
  • The length of service
  • Staff for serving and the bar

Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Getting an accurate quote

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • What power and water the site has
  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • How we drive in and where we can park

Getting a quote is simple: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We’ll come back with a clear quote and a suggested menu.

Organising for someone else?

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Here’s how:

  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Plan a vegan filling as well as a vegetarian one
  • Mention any other caterers or courses

We work around your timings, and adapt if they move.

Tell us if you need plates, cutlery or serving staff and we’ll set out what we can do in your quote.

Step by step

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we will help you choose a spot with room for a queue. Rain does not generally stop us serving, but guests will need somewhere covered. In Aldgate, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:05pm in late September, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. First, send us your date, venue, numbers and any diets we should know about.
  2. You get a suggested menu, with fillings agreed with you, and a quote.
  3. Before the day, we agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day, we set up and serve from the truck or trailer, or from a taco-bar station.
  5. Once everyone has eaten, we tidy our serving area and head off.

Getting ready for the day

  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park
  • Let us know the timings for the day

Common questions in Aldgate

Can you cater a reception after a service at St James Duke's Place?

Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

What about parking in Aldgate?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. A parking suspension may be needed, and the whole of Greater London is inside the ULEZ.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we do. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own. We will check the licensing for alcohol with you.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Tell us your numbers when you ask for a quote, and we’ll keep their options separate.

Can you serve in the rain?

Rain does not usually stop service from the truck or trailer. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Is the food suitable for children?

Yes, children are welcome. Let us know numbers and ages, and we will plan the menu with them in mind.

Is the food made fresh?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. The tortillas are warmed on site, and the salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

How long do you serve for?

It depends on your event. We agree arrival, service and pack-down times with you so everything fits your schedule.
