Mexican catering near Cross Gate

Mexican catering for your event in Cross Gate

You can keep the menu short or make it a feast: a taco menu, or tacos plus loaded nachos, quesadillas and burrito bowls. Our Mexican drinks bar can be added too, with licensing checked with you. It suits leaving dos and retirement parties and weddings, day or evening, serving fresh salsas and guacamole, burrito bowls and quesadillas.

Somewhere as small as Cross Gate, a garden or field is often the venue. Country lanes, long drives and gates are fine if we know about them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. We’ll check the space, access and power with you before the day, so set-up goes smoothly.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we’ll do the serving.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

How it works

The truck or trailer tends to draw a crowd, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. We can serve in the rain, but guests will need somewhere covered. Winter evenings in Cross Gate close in by about 4:00pm, so choose a spot where guests can see what they’re ordering. In late June, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. Share the date, the venue and how many are coming.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Guests order at the hatch or build their own at the taco bar.
  5. We clear our serving area when everyone is fed.

How to prepare

  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely

Planning help

The menu, item by item

Loaded nachos

Tortilla chips piled with cheese, a filling, salsa, guacamole and toppings, made for sharing.

Tacos

Street tacos are small, quick and full of flavour. They come with fresh salsas and toppings, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

Planners, venues and businesses

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Let us know how long the break is.

What we need at the venue

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you contact us. Generally, we look for:

  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • Space for guests to queue
  • A spot away from buildings, windows and neighbours

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before you book.
