Mexican catering across West Sussex

With mobile Mexican catering, we bring the kitchen with us: we park our food truck or trailer on site and serve hot food from it. No kitchen is needed on site. It suits fundraisers and school events and summer garden parties, serving tacos, loaded nachos and a build-your-own taco bar.

Your timings come first. If speeches run late or the photos take longer, tell us and we’ll adjust the start of service where we can.

  1. Start by telling us about your event.
  2. We suggest fillings and extras and send a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. On the day we park up, set up and serve hot food to order.
  5. We pack down after service and leave the area tidy.

Around Crawley

In Crawley, that could mean a party near Friary Church of St Francis and St Anthony, St Wilfrid's Catholic School and Tilgate Park, among other places. Also close by are The George Hotel (within half a mile north), Three Bridges Junior School (under half a mile south-east) and St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School (within half a mile south-east). There is a railway station in Crawley itself: Crawley station. A little further out are Crawley Hospital (0.5 miles north-west) and County Mall (under half a mile north-east). Open spaces near Crawley include Tilgate Lake.

Planning a food truck in West Sussex

West Sussex covers everything from Crawley, Horsham and Worthing to 293 small villages and hamlets, and a food truck or trailer can work in all of them, given access. In towns, plan parking and loading; in villages, tell us about lanes, gates and ground. Parts of West Sussex are within a few miles of the South Downs National Park and the High Weald National Landscape, so check venue rules on vehicles, ground and access for countryside events. Around 121 places in West Sussex are close to the coast, so we often plan around the wind at coastal events.

Crawley: If you are celebrating after a service at a church like Friary Church of St Francis and St Anthony, a truck or trailer parked at a hall or garden close by can serve the meal. A school such as Three Bridges Junior School running a summer fair or fundraiser could book a taco truck. Around midsummer it stays light in Crawley until about 9:20pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. For winter events, when it’s dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

Comparing your options

A plated meal needs a kitchen and a larger team. Our truck or trailer brings its own kitchen, and needs a suitable spot, safe access and the venue’s agreement.

Comparing caterers

  • How bad weather is handled
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • If the price includes VAT
  • Whether plates, napkins and cutlery are included

Space, access and the venue

We serve from a truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. These are the things we check:

  • The venue’s or landowner’s permission for a catering vehicle
  • Space for a taco-bar table if you’ve chosen one
  • A flat, firm spot where the truck or trailer can stand

Who books Mexican catering?

Tacos and burritos go down well with most crowds: familiar, filling and easy to eat wherever guests are.

We can help if you are planning any of the following:

  • Retirement and leaving parties
  • Engagement and anniversary parties
  • School fairs and fundraisers
  • Office lunches and team days

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

The menu, item by item

Salsas and guacamole

Salsas and guacamole, made fresh for your event, with lime and fresh toppings.

Burritos and burrito bowls

A burrito is a meal in one. Bowls suit guests who want to skip the tortilla.

Questions from West Sussex

What is mobile Mexican catering?

We arrive with our own mobile kitchen. We set up at your venue, serve hot food to order and pack down afterwards.

Can you cater for special diets?

We plan carefully for diets and keep options separate, though we cannot guarantee a kitchen with no trace of any allergen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us before the event.

What about power on site?

That depends on the set-up, and we agree power and water with you before the day. Tell us what’s available at your venue.

What can we choose from?

Tacos, build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, loaded nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. See our sample menu.

Can you come to a private house?

Yes, as long as there’s access and a level, firm spot. Send us a photo of the access and the space.

What access do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

What if it rains?

Rain doesn’t stop service from the hatch. Plan a marquee, gazebo or indoor space for guests to eat in.
