Mexican catering near Skinner's Hill

Mexican catering for your event in Skinner's Hill

Our truck and trailer service tends to suit around 50 to 400 guests. Larger festivals and smaller parties are looked at case by case, so tell us your numbers. At retirement and leaving parties and festivals, fairs and markets, we will put together a menu of fresh salsas and guacamole, tacos and loaded nachos and more.

Somewhere as small as Skinner's Hill, a garden or field is often the venue. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives and we will plan for them, and soft ground after rain is worth mentioning. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

Skinner's Hill: your questions answered

Which station should guests use for Skinner's Hill?

Sandown station, about 1.7 miles east of the centre.

Do you cater at coastal events near Skinner's Hill?

We can, given firm ground and the landowner’s permission. Beaches and promenades generally need the council’s agreement, so check that first.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we’ll talk licensing through with you.

Is the food very hot?

That is your choice: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately.

Do you have vegan options?

Of course. Vegetarian and vegan fillings, such as spiced mushrooms or black beans, can be part of the menu, served alongside the meat options.

Where do you cater?

London and South East England: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, including Skinner's Hill.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Tell us about your space and numbers and we’ll suggest the best set-up.

Guacamole and salsas, freshly made.

Burritos and burrito bowls

A big flour tortilla wrapped round rice, beans, a filling and toppings, or served as a bowl instead.

Before you choose a spot

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so where we park matters. These are the things we check:

  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • Permission from the venue or landowner
  • A spot away from buildings, windows and neighbours

For somewhere as remote as Skinner's Hill, early notice helps us plan the trip, the route in and power.

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we will say what we think before booking.

Planning a food truck in Skinner's Hill

Skinner's Hill is about 5 miles south of Ryde, in the Isle of Wight. Wherever your event is in the PO36 area, we can bring the truck or trailer to you, as long as there’s access. Skinner's Hill is one of 125 towns and villages in the Isle of Wight we cover. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Skinner's Hill to Southampton (20 miles away).

Parents planning a fundraiser at a school like Newchurch Primary School might find a Mexican street-food truck draws families in. If you are celebrating after a service at a church like All Saints' Church, a truck or trailer parked at a hall or garden close by can serve the meal. The coast is within about 3 miles of Skinner's Hill, so for a seaside event we plan around the wind. The truck or trailer needs firm ground rather than sand or shingle, and seafront spots usually need permission from the council or landowner.

Wherever your event is in PO36, we can bring Mexican catering to you. From Skinner's Hill and Hill Top or anywhere nearby, we’ll plan where to park and serve. For planners, venues and organisers

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

Prices and what affects them

Pricing is straightforward once we know the basics:

  • Timings and hours
  • Whether you need disposables
  • Your choice of food and drinks
  • Food, drinks or both

There’s no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican catering. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Your quote sets it all out.

Details that help

When you contact us, it helps to tell us:

  • The address or venue name
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Diets and allergies you know about
  • A picture of where we’d park

To get a price, just drop us a line using the enquiry form. Give us the details of your event, and we’ll suggest a menu to suit.

Planning for every diet

We take diets and allergies seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Mention any other caterers or courses
  • Add a dietary question to your RSVP

Guests order at the hatch and we serve them there and then, so it’s hot when it reaches them.

Quesadillas are a good choice for children and cautious eaters.

Perfect for your event in Skinner's Hill

Choosing a Mexican caterer

Is Mexican catering right for your event?

A cold buffet is simple but tends to sit out for hours. Tacos and burritos are made to order and served hot. The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Why book with us

  • Fast service, even with a queue
  • A truck or trailer that comes to you
  • Allergen-aware menus
  • Menus for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests

How it works

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, we open the hatch when you are ready, and we serve your guests fresh until service ends. In Skinner's Hill, the sun sets at about 9:20pm in late June and about 7:10pm in late September, so summer evening events are generally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 4:00pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Start by telling us about your event.
  2. We suggest fillings and extras and send a quote.
  3. We agree access, the serving spot, power and water.
  4. We arrive, set up and serve from the hatch.
  5. Once service ends, we clear away.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat
  • Find out what power and water are available
  • Tell us when you want service to start
