Mexican catering in The Platt

Mexican catering for your event in The Platt

Serving from a truck or trailer keeps the mood easy-going. People wander up, order at the hatch and head off with hot food. It suits milestone birthdays and wedding breakfasts and evening food, serving tacos, fresh salsas and guacamole and loaded nachos.

In a hamlet or village like The Platt, your own garden or a neighbour’s field can make a good venue. Gates, verges and soft ground are worth mentioning when you enquire. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so there are no surprises on arrival.

Common questions in The Platt

We’re having a ceremony at The Parish Church of St Alban: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Do you cater in the High Weald National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Is the food suitable for children?

Of course. We can keep dishes mild, and simple options such as quesadillas or nachos can be part of the menu. Tell us how many children are coming.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Ask us when you enquire. Let us know what you already have, and we’ll set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

Do you give allergen information?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we will go through the licensing with you.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so get in touch early.

Can you cater for guests who avoid dairy?

Yes. Dairy-free options are part of our menus, and we will tell you which dishes contain milk.

Planners, venues and businesses

Events in public spaces, like parks, typically need permission. We’ll provide the information the landowner or council asks for from us.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

Perfect for your event in The Platt

Mexican street food suits almost any crowd: it is familiar, filling and easy to eat standing up or sitting down.

These are some of the occasions we serve:

  • Weddings, day or evening
  • Summer garden parties
  • Retirement and leaving parties
  • Birthday parties

Parks such as Eridge Park generally need the owner’s permission for vehicles and catering, so ask before you plan an event there.

What your quote should include

  • How long the service runs
  • The deadline for final numbers
  • How bad weather is handled
  • How dietary needs and allergies are handled

Questions to ask before you book

What affects the price in The Platt

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • Serving staff
  • How many guests we’re serving
  • What the venue already provides
  • Travel, parking and access

The price depends on guest numbers, the menu and how long you’d like us to serve, plus any add-ons and the location. Every event gets its own quote.

What to tell us

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • The address or venue name
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Diets and allergies you know about

We quote for each event separately, based on what you need. To ask for one, use our quote form.

Diets, allergies and planning

Allergies and diets are taken seriously. Help us by following these steps:

  • Count children separately
  • Let us know if a guest is coeliac
  • Ask the venue whether food trucks are allowed
  • Put guests with severe allergies in touch with us early

We work around your timings, and adapt if they move.

Loaded nachos make a good sharing starter or as a late snack.

Can I do a taco night myself?

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Think about numbers, diets and how much you want to enjoy the day. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

The process

On the day, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. We’re ready to serve at the agreed time, so everything runs to your schedule. Around midsummer it stays light in The Platt until about 9:15pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:00pm, so summer evening events are normally served in daylight. For winter events, when it is dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue and eat.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. Expect a suggested menu and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. We serve hot food from our truck or trailer at the agreed time.
  5. When you are done, we pack away.

Before we arrive

  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park
  • Confirm the venue allows outside caterers
  • Tell us what power and water the site has
