Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

About our Mexican catering in Whitley

Mobile Mexican catering means the kitchen comes to you: our truck or trailer parks at your venue and we serve hot food straight from the hatch. No kitchen is needed on site. It suits fairs and festivals and wedding breakfasts and evening food, with loaded nachos, a build-your-own taco bar and burritos.

In and around Whitley, gardens and local halls are common choices. If access is tight or the ground is soft, we will plan around it. We serve from the hatch of our truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

Events we cater in Whitley

The truck or trailer becomes a focal point, and the smell of warm tortillas brings people over.

Big or small, a truck or trailer works well. Common bookings include:

  • Office lunches and team days
  • Fairs and festivals
  • Family celebrations
  • Wedding breakfasts and evening food

Guests arriving by train will find that Reading Green Park station is about 1.7 miles away.

How to compare caterers

Prices and what affects them

Contact us for a quote, which reflects:

  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • The length of service
  • The number of people
  • Parking and the route in

Larger events can cost less per head, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Give us your numbers and we’ll quote.

What we need to know

You don’t need every detail fixed to get a quote, but these help:

  • The address or venue name
  • Roughly how many adults and children
  • How we drive in and where we can park
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers

Every quote is put together for your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we will confirm whether we are available that day.

How it works

On the day, we position the truck or trailer and get the serving area ready. Service starts at the time we’ve agreed, planned around your event. A December event in Whitley will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so a well-lit spot for the queue makes a big difference. At midsummer, the light holds until around 9:25pm.

  1. Share the date, the venue and how many are coming.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Guests order at the hatch or build their own at the taco bar.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches

Working with your venue

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so everyone is served promptly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.

Space, access and the venue

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We look for:

  • Space for guests to queue
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on
  • Access wide and high enough to drive in, with gates and soft lawns checked first

Not sure about your space? Send us a photo and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Questions from Whitley

Which station should guests use for Whitley?

Reading Green Park station, about 1.7 miles west of the centre.

Could you serve our guests after a service at St Agnes?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Can you cater in a back garden?

It depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we will advise.

Do you come to Whitley?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, and Whitley is within our area and the rest of Reading. For a quote, tell us about it on our contact page.

Can you serve in the rain?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Are plates and napkins included?

We confirm that with your quote. Tell us whether your venue has crockery or you’d prefer disposables and we’ll talk it through.

Do you cook on site?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

Can you set up at our venue?

Level, firm ground, access for the truck or trailer and the venue’s agreement. Power and water are confirmed with each booking.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Try these:

  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Send allergy details to us in writing
  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Flag anyone with coeliac disease

We can still serve from the hatch if it rains, but guests will need somewhere covered to eat.

Quesadillas are a good choice for children and cautious eaters, because they’re simple.
