How it compares

Running your own bar means checking licensing, stock and staff yourself. We will go through the licensing with you and bring bar staff. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Contact us for a quote to compare.

Step by step

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. Send us a photo of the space if you’re unsure. At midsummer, it is light in Horden until about 9:15pm, so evening drinks can be served in daylight. By late September, sunset is about 7:00pm, and in December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so plan lighting around the bar.

  1. You tell us the date, venue, guest numbers and the drinks you have in mind.
  2. We talk through licensing with you, whether that is the venue’s licence or a Temporary Event Notice.
  3. We put together a drinks menu, with alcohol-free choices, and quote for it.
  4. On the day we set up the bar and our bar staff serve your guests.
  5. We pack away when the bar shuts and leave the area tidy.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check the venue is happy to have a truck or trailer on site
  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park

Prices and what affects them

The price comes down to a few factors:

  • How many guests we are serving
  • Food, drinks or both
  • How many staff you need
  • The length of service

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.

Details that help

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • What power and water the site has
  • Where the event is
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • Roughly how many adults and children

Not sure what you need yet? That’s fine: tell us about the occasion and the guests, and we will make suggestions. To start, use our quote form.

Planning the bar

To get the most from the bar, it helps to:

  • Make sure drivers have good choices
  • Plan water alongside the bar
  • Plan any Temporary Event Notice well ahead
  • Tell us when the bar should open and close

After service, we clear the bar away.

Tell us what glassware you need and we’ll confirm the options with your quote.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so everyone is served promptly. Let us know how long the break is.

Planning the serving area

Before the day, we will agree where we park and serve. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • A premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice in place
  • A bar spot away from homes
  • The venue’s permission for an outside bar

If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Popular choices

  • Mexican beer
  • Soft drinks
  • Margaritas
  • Horchata
  • Fruit aguas frescas
  • Agua de jamaica (hibiscus)

Planning a drinks bar in Horden

Horden is about 6 miles south-east of Paddock Wood, in Kent. Whether your event is in the middle of Horden or on the outskirts, we offer the same service: fresh service from our food truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. We serve in 922 places in Kent, from the larger towns to small villages, wherever the truck or trailer can get in. Our truck and trailer cover the area from Horden to Maidstone (9 miles away).

Older venues around Horden may restrict vehicles and outside drinks service, so confirm what’s allowed before you book. Anyone leaving the car at home will want to know that the nearest station is Marden station, about 2.9 miles north. With the High Weald National Landscape within about 4 miles, a countryside drinks reception is an option. Check how the venue handles outside bars and vehicles.

Here we cover the TN17 and TN12 postcode area, and we can cater your event anywhere in it with access for the truck or trailer. Local streets include Hill Top and Husheath Hill; for an event at home on any of them, tell us where the truck or trailer can park. If your venue is just outside Horden, we also cover Colliers Green (1 mile south), Flishinghurst (2 miles south), Marden Thorn (2 miles north), Knox Bridge (2 miles east) and Cranbrook Common (3 miles east). Within a short drive, we also cover Maidstone (9 miles north), Royal Tunbridge Wells (10 miles west), Tonbridge (11 miles north-west), Kings Hill (10 miles north-west), Foley Park (10 miles north) and Paddock Wood (6 miles north-west).

Common questions in Horden

Is it possible to have you in The Gill?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Check with them, and we’ll provide what they ask for from us.

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the High Weald National Landscape?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

How long do you serve for?

We get there well before service to set up. Serving times are agreed with you in advance, along with pack-down.

Do you have alcohol-free drinks?

Yes. Aguas frescas and soft drinks are alcohol-free.

Which areas do you serve?

London and the South East: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, including Horden.

What can we have at the bar?

Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, plus soft drinks. We plan the list with you.

What if the weather’s bad?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, like a marquee or gazebo.

Do you clear up afterwards?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. For anything beyond that, such as guests’ tables, ask us.
