Can I do a taco night myself?

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

Drinks planning tips

Some planning tips for the drinks:

  • Check allergies with guests, including for drinks
  • Agree bar timings in advance
  • Allow time for a Temporary Event Notice if one is needed
  • Give us numbers for children

We adapt if the timings shift.

Alcohol-free aguas frescas for all ages.

Organising for someone else?

Events in public spaces, like parks, generally need permission. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

Wedding planners and venue coordinators are welcome to contact us directly, and we will keep everyone informed on the day.

Drinks bars for events in Rock

Rock is about 6 miles north of Worthing, in West Sussex. From the centre of Rock to the outskirts, we offer the same service: fresh service from our truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. We cater in 371 places across West Sussex. Our nearest city page is Brighton, about 13 miles away.

Nearby historic houses include Parham House (3.9 miles west). Many listed venues control who serves drinks on their premises, so ask yours what it allows. If the service is at a church such as The Parish Church of St Mary, the bar would be set up at the reception venue rather than the church. The South Downs National Park is within about 6 miles of Rock, a lovely setting for drinks outdoors. Ask your venue about vehicle access for the truck or trailer.

This part of West Sussex takes in RH20. Your event could be at a home on Old London Road, London Road and Lamorna Close or the roads around them. For events just outside Rock, we cover Washington (1 mile south), Heath Common (1 mile north-west), Sullington (1 mile west), Warminghurst (2 miles north) and Storrington (2 miles west). Further out, we also cater in Horsham (11 miles north), Worthing (6 miles south), Bognor Regis (15 miles south-west), Haywards Heath (15 miles north-east), Burgess Hill (12 miles east) and Littlehampton (9 miles south-west).

A little further out are The Storrington And District Museum (1.9 miles west). Open spaces near Rock include Chanctonbury Hill.

  • Schools near Rock include Rydon Community College (1.5 miles north-west)
  • Nearby, you’ll find The Frankland Arms Public House (0.6 miles south)

The process

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. Send us a picture of the space if you’re unsure. At midsummer, it is light in Rock until about 9:20pm, ideal for drinks outdoors. In late September it is dark around 7:05pm, and in December by about 3:55pm, so evening bars need lighting.

  1. First, we check your date.
  2. You get a suggested drinks list.
  3. We confirm power, water and the bar spot.
  4. The bar opens at the agreed time.
  5. We tidy up at the end.

Before we arrive

  • Give us a contact for the day
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Send us final numbers and dietary needs in good time

Rock: your questions answered

How far is Rock from London?

It is about 43 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the South Downs National Park?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

Can you serve in the rain?

The truck or trailer can serve in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we do. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We’ll check the licensing for alcohol with you.

Do you provide bar staff?

Yes, our bar staff serve your guests. They serve responsibly.

How much space do you need?

The main things are access and a level spot: a level spot to park, space for guests to queue and a little room for a serving table. If in doubt, send us a photo of the space and the way in.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from. Read our taco bar guide.

Can children have drinks from the bar?

There are always alcohol-free options, including aguas frescas and soft drinks.

Comparing your options

A generic bar does the job, but a Mexican bar with margaritas and aguas frescas feels like part of the theme. There is no one-size-fits-all price for Mexican bar hire. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Your quote sets it all out.

What you get with us
