The process

On the day, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we have agreed, planned around your event. At midsummer, it’s light in Windmill Hill until about 9:15pm, ideal for drinks outdoors. By late September, sunset is about 7:00pm, and in December it is dark by about 3:55pm, so plan lighting around the bar.

  1. First, we check your date.
  2. We suggest margaritas, beer, aguas frescas and alcohol-free choices.
  3. We agree where the bar goes.
  4. We set up and serve on cue.
  5. When the bar shuts, we clear away.

Planning the bar

To get the most from the bar, it helps to:

  • Tell us when the bar should open and close
  • Allow time for a Temporary Event Notice if one is needed
  • Serve food alongside the drinks
  • Check how alcohol will be licensed at your venue

We arrive in good time to set up the bar.

Windmill Hill: your questions answered

Do you come out to small places like Windmill Hill?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Could you serve our guests after a service at Herstmonceux Free Church?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

What areas do you cover?

We cover London and the South East, East Sussex included. See all areas.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes, a taco bar is one of our options. Tell us about your space and numbers and we’ll recommend how to serve.

How soon do we need to book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it’s soon.

Who handles the licensing?

Alcohol at an event needs the venue’s premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice. We check the licensing with you before the day. See GOV.UK for Temporary Event Notices.

Do you cater in Windmill Hill?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, and Windmill Hill is within our area and the rest of East Sussex. For a quote, send us your details through our quote form.

Is the food very hot?

That’s your choice: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.

Can I do a taco night myself?

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

Working with your venue

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, whether you’re a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It keeps things simple.

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: vehicle access, arrival times and documents. Send us your venue’s requirements and we will follow them.

Planning the serving area

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • A flat, firm spot for the bar
  • Licensing checked with you before the day
  • Access to unload close to the bar spot

If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

What we offer

  • Horchata
  • Mexican beer
  • Fruit aguas frescas
  • Agua de jamaica (hibiscus)
  • Soft drinks
  • Margaritas

Comparing your options

Non-drinkers often get only soft drinks. Our aguas frescas are made for them. A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

Why us?

  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • A menu agreed with you
  • Service planned around your numbers
  • Book food, drinks or both
