How our Mexican bar hire works in Yarbridge

Serving alcohol at events needs a licence: either the venue’s premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice. We go through the licensing with you before the day. It suits anniversaries and engagements and wedding drinks receptions, with soft drinks, Mexican beer and alcohol-free drinks.

Near Yarbridge, a drinks bar suits gardens, barns and marquees, as long as we can get in. We will go through the licensing with you. We cater for vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests, with allergen information for everything we serve.

What Mexican bar hire costs

Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Travel, parking and access
  • How many guests we’re serving
  • Staff for serving and the bar
  • What the venue already provides

Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

Details that help

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • Your date and when you want service to start
  • Where the event is
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • What power and water the site has

To get a price, just tell us about it on our contact page. Give us the details of your event, and we will suggest a menu to suit.

Space, access and the venue

Plenty of outdoor spaces and venues work for us, but a few things matter:

  • Agreement from the venue for our bar
  • Power and water, which we confirm with you for each booking
  • Somewhere to park and unload nearby

Yarbridge is a more remote spot, so tell us early and we will plan the journey and access for the truck or trailer.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before booking.

What we offer

  • Margaritas
  • Soft drinks
  • Agua de jamaica (hibiscus)
  • Horchata
  • Fruit aguas frescas
  • Mexican beer

DIY taco night versus a caterer

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

Perfect for your event in Yarbridge

A drinks bar with a theme gives guests something to talk about.

Big or small, a truck or trailer works well. Common bookings include:

  • Client events and launches
  • Festivals and fairs
  • Weddings, day or evening
  • Birthday parties

Once the ceremony at a church like St. Mary's Church is over, guests may be glad of a cold drink at the reception venue.

Questions to ask before booking

  • VAT, if it applies
  • What the caterer needs from your venue
  • Payment terms and deposit

Planning a drinks bar in Yarbridge

Yarbridge is about 2 miles north-east of Sandown, in the Isle of Wight. From the centre of Yarbridge to the outskirts, we offer the same service: fresh service from our food truck or trailer, every diet planned for and a clear quote. Yarbridge is one of 125 towns and villages in the Isle of Wight we cover. Our nearest city page is Southampton, about 20 miles away.

For guests coming by train, Brading station is about 0.5 miles away. Nearby historic houses include Morton Manor (less than half a mile west) and Yaverland Manor (0.7 miles south-east). Grand houses and estates tend to have firm rules on alcohol and outside bars, so raise the drinks bar with them early. Drinks by the sea could work, as Yarbridge is within about a mile of the coast. Licensing on the seafront needs checking, and we’ll do that with you.

Anywhere in PO36, we can bring the truck or trailer to your guests. We can cater an event on streets such as New Road, Morton Road and Church Lane or the roads around them. You will find Yarbridge on the A3055, which makes it straightforward to bring the truck or trailer. Neighbouring places where we cater events include Morton (1 mile south-west), Brading (1 mile north), Adgestone (1 mile west), Yaverland (1 mile south-east) and Sandown (2 miles south-west). Larger places within reach include Newport (7 miles west), Ryde (4 miles north), Cowes (9 miles north-west), Shanklin (3 miles south-west), Ventnor (6 miles south-west) and East Cowes (8 miles north-west). Some remote venues need extra planning, so contact us in good time about access, ground and power.

Other landmarks nearby include Arthur Webster Memorial Hospital for Children (3.1 miles south-west) and Sandown Castle (1.2 miles south). Green spaces nearby include Brading Marshes RSPB reserve and Brading Down.

  • Nearby schools include The Bay Church of England School (1.3 miles south-west) and Sandown Bay Academy (1.4 miles south-west)
  • Local pubs include The Bugle Inn (0.5 miles north)

The process

We take care of everything you’ve booked, from set-up to service, so you can spend time with your guests. By late September, sunset in Yarbridge comes at roughly 7:10pm, so margaritas after that will be served under lights. In late May, it stays light until about 8:55pm.

  1. Send us the date, venue and numbers.
  2. We talk through licensing with you.
  3. You choose the drinks with us.
  4. Our bar staff serve your guests at the agreed times.
  5. We pack down when the bar closes.

How to prepare

  • Confirm numbers and diets before the day
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park

How to get a price

Questions from Yarbridge

What’s the nearest station to Yarbridge for guests?

Guests can use Brading station, about 0.5 miles north-east of Yarbridge.

Will you travel to a small place like Yarbridge?

Yes, we cater in villages and hamlets as well as towns. Let us know about access and parking for the truck or trailer.

Do you do a taco bar?

We can. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings. Read our taco bar guide.

Is the food very hot?

It’s up to you: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately.

Can you serve in the rain?

Rain does not typically stop service from the truck or trailer. Plan cover for guests, such as a marquee or gazebo, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Do you need electricity?

Let us know what’s available on site, such as a supply from the venue near where we will park, and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

What drinks do you serve?

Margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, plus soft drinks. We plan the list with you.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
  • Mexican drinks bar: margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas
