Mexican street food in New Zealand, from our food truck or trailer

A Mexican food truck pulls a crowd at any outdoor event. The smell of warm tortillas and slow-cooked fillings brings people over, and orders are served quickly from the hatch. It works well for open days and community events and sports clubs and race days, with burritos, burrito bowls and tacos.

A fête near New Zealand might be on a field with no mains power; let us know and we will confirm the arrangements. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

Why choose Mexican street food in New Zealand?

It feeds crew and volunteers well on a long day.

We can help if you’re planning any of the following:

  • Feeding crew and volunteers
  • Outdoor screenings
  • Summer fairs and fêtes
  • Race days and sports events

For a church fête or fundraiser, at a church such as St Peter's, a taco truck adds hot food to the cakes and tombola.

What your quote should include

  • The deadline for final numbers
  • What the price includes, item by item
  • How dietary needs and allergies are handled
  • What happens if it rains

Questions to ask before booking

Planning for every diet

A Mexican menu is easy to plan for mixed diets, because guests can choose what suits them. A few tips:

  • Plan access routes for trader vehicles
  • Put all trader information in one pack
  • Ensure the line-up includes vegan and gluten-free options
  • Check how traders handle peak times

We arrive in the agreed set-up window, following your trader pack.

A vegan filling on every menu.

Space, access and the venue

Before the day, we will agree where we park and serve. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Access for the truck or trailer at set-up
  • Pitch space for the vehicle and a queue
  • Trader information and site rules

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.

Can I do a taco night myself?

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Running an event in New Zealand

New Zealand is about 1 mile west of Elmhurst, in Buckinghamshire. We cater events at gardens, halls and venues around New Zealand and the surrounding area. New Zealand is one of 263 towns and villages in Buckinghamshire where we can bring Mexican street food. You can also see our page for Milton Keynes, about 15 miles away.

Visitors arriving by train will find that Aylesbury station is about 0.8 miles away. If you are organising a summer fair or fundraiser for a school such as Elmhurst School, a taco truck can be a crowd-pleaser. Organisers near the Chilterns National Landscape, within about 6 miles of New Zealand, may face extra conditions on traffic, ground protection and waste. We work to whatever the site sets.

This part of Buckinghamshire takes in HP19 and HP20. Streets in the area include Dunsham Lane, Drayton Road and Cannock Road, and an event on any of them can work if the truck or trailer can park nearby. For events just outside New Zealand, we cover Elmhurst (1 mile east), Aylesbury (1 mile south), Watermead (1 mile north-east), Quarrendon Estate (1 mile west) and California (1 mile south). We also cater in nearby towns such as High Wycombe (14 miles south), Chesham (12 miles south-east), Buckingham (14 miles north-west), Amersham (14 miles south-east), Princes Risborough (7 miles south) and Haddenham (6 miles south-west).

A little further out are Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital (under half a mile south) and Dinton Castle (3.8 miles south-west).

  • Nearby schools include The PACE Centre (0.6 miles west) and Buckinghamshire UTC (0.8 miles south-west)
  • Local pubs include The New Zealand pub (less than half a mile south)

How it works

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. Rain does not generally stop us serving, but guests will need somewhere covered. For an evening event in New Zealand, sunset is about 8:55pm in late May and 9:25pm in late June; after that, the trading area needs lighting from the organiser or the site.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. We reply with our stall menu and what we need on site.
  3. Power, water and access are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we are ready before the busiest hours.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat

Planning help

Mexican street food or something else?

A single pizza or burger stall cannot cover every visitor. Tacos, burritos, bowls and nachos give choice. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

Why book with us

  • A menu built around your guests
  • A truck or trailer that comes to you
  • Tacos, burritos and a drinks bar

New Zealand: your questions answered

Could you bring a taco truck to a school fair in New Zealand?

Yes, if the school is happy and there is access for the truck or trailer. Send us the date, pitch and expected numbers.

Do you come out to small places like New Zealand?

Yes. Villages and hamlets are part of our area, and the main thing is access: tell us about the lane, the gate and the ground.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, they’re part of the planning from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect.

How long are you on site?

We arrive in good time to set up before service. Serving times are agreed with you in advance, along with pack-down.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it’s short notice, it is worth asking.

Can vegans eat at your stall?

We do. Our stall menu includes vegan and gluten-free options.

Do you do a taco bar?

Yes. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we’ll talk licensing through with you.
