How our Mexican party catering works in New Zealand
Tacos are relaxed party food: easy to eat with one hand, so guests can keep chatting and there’s no need for a seating plan. It works well for leaving dos and retirements and naming days and christenings, serving burritos, tacos and a build-your-own taco bar.
In a small place like New Zealand, a party in the garden or a nearby field is often the plan. Let us know about access and soft ground, and we will plan the set-up. Timings are planned around your event, so service starts when you want it.

The process
Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. We can serve in the rain, though guests will want somewhere covered to stand or sit. Throwing a late-May party in New Zealand? The sun sets at about 8:55pm. After that, a few lamps or fairy lights near the serving area help.

New Zealand questions
Can you cater a reception after a service at St Peter's?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.
Is New Zealand close to London?
About 38 miles from central London, and well within our area.
Do you have gluten-free options?
Yes, we offer gluten-free options, using corn tortillas. Tell us about any coeliac guests before the event so we can explain how we prepare their food. See are corn tortillas gluten-free?
Do you have vegan options?
We can. We plan vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. We give allergen information for every dish.
What will our party cost?
There is no fixed price list, as each party is different. Send your details and we’ll send a quote.
How much is a food truck for an event?
The price depends on numbers, menu, service time and where your event is. Contact us for a quote.
How soon do we need to book?
Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Even if it’s short notice, it’s worth asking.
Is Mexican food OK for kids?
Of course. Children normally enjoy quesadillas and simple tacos, with salsas served separately. Include children in your numbers.

What we need at the venue
Many gardens, fields and venues can take a truck or trailer, but a few things matter:
- Agreement from the venue to bring a food truck or trailer on site
- A clear area in front of the hatch for a queue
- A route in that’s wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
If you are unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Good planning keeps every guest safe and happy. Here’s how:

- Put out bins for general waste and recycling
- Give separate numbers for children
When you’re ready to eat, we start serving, while you enjoy your guests.

Can I do a taco night myself?
If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.
A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.
