Common questions in Sholing

Is Sholing close to London?

It’s about 68 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Is it possible to have you in Westwood Woodland Park?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we’ll help with the information they need from us.

How spicy is the food?

The food can be kept mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we will go through the licensing with you.

What access do you need?

A level, firm spot for the truck or trailer, with access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s agreement. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

Can guests build their own tacos?

We can. A build-your-own taco bar can be served from the truck or a serving station, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings. Read our taco bar guide.

Can vegans eat at your stall?

We do. Our stall menu includes vegan and gluten-free options, with allergen information for every dish.

Do you have dairy-free options?

Yes. We offer dairy-free options, and we will tell you which dishes contain milk.

Running an event in Sholing

Sholing is about 2 miles south-east of Southampton, in Southampton. Events in Sholing are planned around your venue and timings: a clear quote, agreed timings and fresh service on the day. Sholing is one of 40 places in Southampton where we can bring Mexican street food.

Rail travel is an option for visitors, as Sholing station is about 0.5 miles away. A fundraiser for a church like Church of St Mary might use a food truck to give visitors a reason to stay longer. Organisers near the New Forest National Park, within about 8 miles of Sholing, may face extra conditions on traffic, ground protection and waste. We work to whatever the site sets. The coast is within about 2 miles of Sholing, so for seaside events we plan a sheltered pitch, on firm ground rather than sand.

For Mexican street food in SO19, we plan around your venue and the route in and timings. Whether your event is on Bay Road, Ashby Road and Loane Road or a nearby road, we’ll plan where to park and serve. Being close to the A3025, Sholing is easy for us to reach for your event. If your venue is just outside Sholing, we also cover Itchen (1 mile west), Thornhill (1 mile north-east), Bitterne (1 mile north), Peartree Green (1 mile west) and Northam (1 mile north-west). Further out, we also cater in Shirley (4 miles north-west), Regents Park (4 miles west), Maybush (5 miles north-west), Coxford (4 miles north-west), Freemantle (3 miles west) and Lordswood (4 miles north-west). Can I do a taco night myself?

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

How it compares

Food that sits in a hot cabinet isn’t much to look at. Our food is made to order. Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. We quote for each event individually.

Why us?

  • Served fresh from our food truck or trailer
  • Allergen-aware menus
  • Events in Sholing and across Southampton
  • Quoted for your event

How it works

Expect a friendly, organised team. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our food truck or trailer, and get on with serving. A December market in Sholing loses the light at about 4:00pm, so site lighting matters for traders and visitors alike. At midsummer, daylight lasts until roughly 9:25pm.

  1. Tell us about the event, the crowd and the pitch.
  2. You get our menu and pitch requirements.
  3. Power, water and access are agreed in advance.
  4. On the day, we are ready before the busiest hours.
  5. At close, we pack down and tidy up.

Before we arrive

  • Check the venue is happy to have a truck or trailer on site
  • Pick a flat, firm spot for us to park
  • Let us know the timings for the day

Getting a price

Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, plus any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just drop us a line using the enquiry form.
