Mexican catering in CR6: what to expect

The menu starts with tacos: warmed tortillas, a choice of fillings, and salsas, guacamole and toppings to finish. We can add burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas. On the menu are tacos, a build-your-own taco bar and burritos, which works well for staff parties and office lunches and weddings, day or evening.

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, with power and water arrangements agreed beforehand. A photo of the space helps.

  1. Begin with the date, the place and the numbers.
  2. We come back with menu ideas and a quote.
  3. Nearer the date, we go over the final plan.
  4. We serve hot food from our truck or trailer at the agreed time.
  5. When you are done, we pack away.

Taco catering in CR6: local guide

From Warlingham, Hamsey Green and Chelsham to 4 villages and hamlets, events across CR6 range from town-centre venues to gardens and fields, and a truck or trailer suits most settings with access and level ground. In towns, plan parking and loading; in villages, tell us about lanes, gates and ground.

Warlingham: When the service is at a church such as Church of All Saints, the food typically happens elsewhere, at a field, hall or garden with room for the truck. Let us know if service will run after dark, and we’ll talk about lighting.

Diets, allergies and planning

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because guests can choose what suits them. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Ensure the menu has a vegan option
  • Check that your venue allows outside caterers and vehicles
  • Have a covered area ready in case of rain
  • Let us know if a guest is coeliac

Guests order at the hatch and we serve them there and then, so it’s hot when it reaches them.

Ask us about plates, cutlery and serving staff and we’ll confirm what’s possible with your quote.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

DIY catering keeps costs down, but the host spends the party serving. Booking a caterer means you can relax with everyone else.

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you are organising for someone else, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so guests are looked after quickly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

How we price Mexican catering

We’ll give you a clear quote. What affects it most:

  • Whether you need disposables
  • Whether you add a drinks bar or food
  • Timings and hours
  • The number of people

Access and travel can make a difference to the cost, so it helps to tell us about your venue. The full price is confirmed in your quote.

What we need to know

Here’s what makes a quick, accurate quote possible:

  • Expected numbers
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • What you’d like on the menu
  • What power and water the site has

We quote for each event separately, based on what you need. To ask for one, send us your details through our quote form.

Mexican catering or something else?

A cold buffet is simple but tends to sit out for hours. Our food is served hot, one order at a time.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Staff numbers and hours
  • A food hygiene rating you can check
  • The venue requirements
  • VAT, if it applies

Questions from CR6

Can you cater for special diets?

Diets are planned in advance, with options kept separate, though we cannot guarantee a kitchen with no trace of any allergen. Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us first.

Do you serve in the rain?

Rain doesn’t stop service from the hatch. Have somewhere covered ready for guests.

Are plates and napkins included?

We confirm that with your quote. Let us know what the venue supplies and we will talk it through.

What food do you serve?

Every menu is agreed with you, with fillings such as chicken tinga, carnitas or black beans. The sample menu shows the options.

Is the food very hot?

It is up to you: we can keep it mild and put the hotter salsas on the side.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we run a Mexican drinks bar, with margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we will talk licensing through with you.

How long do you serve for?

We get there well before service to set up. Serving times are agreed with you in advance.

  • Served from our truck or trailer at your venue, garden or event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
  • Tacos and taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas
