How Mexican catering works in MK13

Our truck or trailer travels to events across MK13 and nearby: private gardens, venue grounds, courtyards and fields, as long as there’s safe access. It suits garden get-togethers and family gatherings and christenings, with burritos, loaded nachos and burrito bowls.

When service finishes, we pack up and leave our area tidy. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Guests order at the hatch or build their own at the taco bar.
  5. After the last serving, we clear our area.

Mexican catering across MK13: what to know

MK13 covers everything from Bradville, Bradwell and Two Mile Ash to 1 small villages and hamlets, and a truck or trailer suits most settings with access and level ground. Town events mean planning parking; village events mean planning access and ground.

Bradville: Guests leaving a church like Christ Church after a christening could walk over to a nearby garden where the tacos are ready. If you’re organising a summer fair for a school like Pepper Hill School, a taco truck can be a crowd-pleaser. Around midsummer it stays light in Bradville until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:05pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 3:55pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

Space, access and the venue

Everything is served from our food truck or trailer, so the spot needs a little planning. Here’s what we look for:

  • Some distance from houses and neighbours
  • A clear area in front of the hatch for a queue
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on

Prices and what affects them

These are the factors that matter most:

  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • What the venue already provides
  • Travel, parking and access
  • How many staff you need

The cost per head can fall as numbers rise, because the set-up is similar for different sizes of event. Tell us your numbers for an accurate price.

Details that help

We can quote more accurately with a few details. Here’s what to include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • The venue or postcode
  • Any dietary needs and allergies

Mexican catering or something else?

Pizza and burger vans are familiar choices. Tacos, burritos and nachos feel a little different, while still being easy food most people enjoy.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Travel and parking costs
  • When final numbers are due
  • A clear list of what’s included
  • The venue requirements

Can I do a taco night myself?

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Read our guide to taco bars.

Some hosts like to do it themselves. The usual problems are cold tortillas, running out of a popular filling and a host stuck at the stove. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

Organising for someone else?

Many venues have rules for outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Tell us what your venue needs and we will work to it.

Hosting a party at home? Send a picture of the space and tell us about access, and we will let you know if it is a good fit.

Your questions about Mexican catering in MK13

Do you cater for vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free guests?

Yes. We plan vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options, with corn tortillas for gluten-free guests. We give allergen information for every dish.

Which areas do you serve?

London and the South East: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Is the food made fresh?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

Is the food very hot?

It’s up to you: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

Do you provide drinks?

Yes, we do. The drinks bar can be added to food or booked on its own, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We’ll check the licensing for alcohol with you.

What food do you serve?

We agree the menu with each client, with fillings such as chicken tinga, carnitas or black beans. Take a look at the sample menu.

Can you come to a private house?

That depends on access. A drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission, if the garden itself is out of reach. Tell us about the space and we’ll advise.
