Mexican catering in SO50: what to expect

A build-your-own taco bar is one of the most sociable ways to feed a crowd. Guests fill their own tortillas from the fillings, salsas and toppings, so nobody ends up with something they don’t want. It works well for summer garden parties and anniversaries and engagements, serving loaded nachos, tacos and quesadillas.

From set-up to service, we look after everything you’ve booked from us, so you can spend time with your guests.

  1. You tell us the date, the venue, rough guest numbers and any dietary needs.
  2. You get a suggested menu, with fillings agreed with you, and a quote.
  3. Together we confirm where the truck or trailer will park, plus power and water.
  4. On the day we arrive, set up and serve hot food from our food truck or trailer.
  5. When service ends, we pack down and clear our area.

Cost

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, as there is no kitchen to hire. Ask us for a quote.

What’s near Eastleigh

Events here might be close to Quilley School of Engineering, Lakeside Country Park and Church of the Resurrection, among other places. Other local landmarks include The Wagon Works pub (under half a mile north-west) and Norwood Primary School (0.5 miles west). There is a railway station in Eastleigh itself: Eastleigh station, handy for guests travelling by train. Nearby you’ll also find Moorgreen Hospital (2.9 miles south) and Eastleigh Museum (less than half a mile west). Not far away are Flexford Nature Reserve.

Planning a food truck in SO50

SO50 covers everything from Eastleigh, Allbrook and Boyatt Wood to 7 small villages and hamlets, and a truck or trailer suits most settings with access and level ground. Town events mean planning parking; village events mean planning access and ground. Around 5 places in SO50 are close to the coast, where we plan for the wind at seaside events, and seafront spots need permission and firm ground for the truck or trailer.

Eastleigh: Parks such as Lakeside Country Park typically need the owner’s permission for vehicles and catering, so ask before you plan an event there. With the A335 and B3033 nearby, getting the truck or trailer to Eastleigh is straightforward. Around midsummer it stays light in Eastleigh until about 9:25pm; by late September sunset is nearer 7:10pm, so summer evening service is normally in daylight. In December it’s dark by about 4:00pm, so winter events need lighting around the truck and the queue.

Is Mexican catering right for you?

Sit-down meals need a kitchen, tables and more staff. A food truck or trailer is its own kitchen, so we need a suitable spot, access and the venue’s permission, with power and water confirmed when you book.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether plates, napkins and cutlery are included
  • What happens if it rains
  • Travel and parking costs
  • How many staff are serving, and for how long

What affects the price in SO50

Every event is priced individually, based on a few main things:

  • Timings and hours
  • What the venue already provides
  • How many staff you need
  • Food, drinks or both

Pricing depends on the event. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Contact us for a quote.

Details that help

To check availability and price, we need:

  • Expected numbers
  • The date and time of the event
  • The address or venue name
  • What power and water the site has

We quote for each event separately, based on what you need. To ask for one, use our quote form.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label anything containing allergens.

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Why street food works

The food is bright and generous that suits a relaxed event.

Almost any gathering can work with a truck or trailer. People in SO50 can book us for occasions like:

  • Leaving dos and retirement parties
  • Office lunches and team days
  • Summer garden parties
  • School fairs and fundraisers

What we need at the venue

We will agree the spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • A clear area in front of the hatch for a queue
  • Hardstanding or firm, level ground to park on
  • Permission from the venue or landowner

SO50: your questions answered

Do you have options for kids?

Of course. We can keep dishes mild, and simple options such as quesadillas or nachos can be part of the menu. Include children in your numbers.

Is the food very hot?

We can keep it mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

What happens if it rains?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but your guests will want somewhere covered, like a marquee or gazebo.

Can you serve in bad weather?

We can still serve in the rain. Have somewhere covered ready for guests.

Can we add a bar?

Yes. The drinks bar offers margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas and alcohol-free drinks. Licensing is checked with you first.

How is the food prepared?

We slow-cook fillings ahead, then finish them and keep them hot at your event. Tortillas are warmed on site, and salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

How does your Mexican catering work?

Our food truck or trailer is a mobile kitchen. We set up at your venue, serve hot food to order and pack down afterwards.

  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options, with allergen information
