FAQs for Portsmouth Point

Is Portsmouth Point close to London?

It’s about 66 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Could you come to a seaside event near Portsmouth Point?

Yes, with permission for the spot and firm ground for the truck or trailer. Wind, sand and seafront permissions are the main things to plan on the coast.

When do you arrive?

We arrive in good time to set up before service. Serving times are agreed with you in advance.

Is a taco bar suitable for a big group?

Truck and trailer service normally suits around 50 to 400 guests, while smaller parties are looked at case by case. Tell us your numbers and we’ll plan the bar around them.

Do you need power and water?

That depends on the set-up, and we agree power and water with you before the day. Let us know whether there’s a supply near where we will park.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can, especially for summer weekends. Even if it’s short notice, it is worth asking.

Do you come to Portsmouth Point?

Yes. We cover London and the South East, including Portsmouth Point. To check your date, use our quote form.

Do you cater for coeliacs?

Yes, with corn tortillas. Corn tortillas are naturally gluten-free, but some fillings, sauces and toppings may not be, so we plan gluten-free dishes carefully and give allergen information.

Before you choose a spot

We’ll be honest if a space will not work. What matters most:

  • Room for guests to queue along the table
  • A clear route from the vehicle to the serving spot
  • Somewhere close by for our vehicle to park and unload

If you are unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think before you book.

What we offer

  • Salsas and guacamole
  • Vegan fillings
  • Tortilla chips
  • Corn and flour tortillas
  • Two to four fillings
  • Pickled onions and toppings

The process

We arrive in good time before service, then set up and prepare everything. When service opens, guests come up to the hatch or serving table. From late May to late September, sunset in Portsmouth Point moves from about 8:55pm to 7:10pm. Let us know if an outdoor station will run after dark, and we’ll talk about lighting.

  1. Tell us the date, the venue, how many guests and any diets.
  2. You get a suggested taco-bar spread and a quote.
  3. Together we fix the spot for the taco bar and a nearby place for our vehicle.
  4. On the day our staff lay out the bar and keep it stocked while guests build their tacos.
  5. After the last tacos, we clear the station away.
