Planning an event in Trotton Marsh?

Should I do it myself?

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep tortillas warm in a covered basket, and label anything containing allergens.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. There are fillings to slow-cook, tortillas to keep warm and salsas to make. Our taco bar guide explains how.

Taco bar hire for your event in Trotton Marsh

Fillings are agreed with you, perhaps carnitas, chicken tinga or birria, with a vegan filling like black bean and sweet potato or spiced mushroom. It suits garden parties and evening receptions, serving warm corn and flour tortillas, slow-cooked fillings kept hot and a build-your-own taco bar.

Somewhere as small as Trotton Marsh, a garden, barn or hall can host a taco bar. If lanes or soft ground stop the truck getting close, the station can be set up nearer your guests, as long as we can unload within a short walk. You can book food, drinks or both, so one caterer can cover more of the day.

How the day works

It’s a relaxed, well-organised set-up. Arrival and serving times are agreed beforehand, set up our food truck or trailer, and get on with serving. Winter evenings in Trotton Marsh close in by about 4:00pm, so an indoor spot or a well-lit station works best. At midsummer, by contrast, daylight lasts until about 9:20pm.

  1. Tell us about your event and your guests.
  2. We send a sample spread and a quote.
  3. Access, power and water are agreed beforehand.
  4. We set up the station and keep everything hot.
  5. At the end, we take everything away.

Trotton Marsh questions

How far is Trotton Marsh from central London?

It is about 45 miles from central London, and inside the area we cover.

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the South Downs National Park?

Yes, though some venues in protected landscapes have extra rules; ask your venue. We’ll follow the site rules.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Ask us when you enquire. Tell us what your venue provides, and we’ll confirm what’s included with your quote.

Who clears up?

We pack down and tidy our own area after service. Ask us if you’d like help with anything else.

Who looks after the taco bar?

Our staff set up the bar, keep the fillings hot and top up the dishes through service.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Of course. We can include vegetarian and vegan fillings like black beans or spiced mushrooms, served alongside the meat options.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). For severe allergies, please talk to us first.

Do you cook on site?

Food is cooked to order in our food truck or trailer, or served from a build-your-own taco bar. Slow-cooked fillings are prepared in advance and kept hot on site.

Catering for every guest

Every guest is catered for, gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan included. To get it right:

  • Make sure one filling is vegan
  • Include a dietary question on your invitations
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Check where our vehicle can unload

If speeches or timings run over, we keep the fillings hot and start when you are ready.

Book our drinks bar with the taco bar for margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas.

Is taco bar hire right for your event?

A taco bar and a truck serve the same food in different ways. From the truck, we put each order together; at the bar, guests build their own. What’s on the menu makes a difference to the total, so tell us what you have in mind. We’ll suggest options to suit your budget.
