Choosing a Mexican caterer

Wedding Mexican catering in The Frenches, served fresh

Our drinks bar can serve margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas, with alcohol-free options too. Licensing is checked with you and the venue first. For late-evening wedding food and garden and marquee weddings, we can serve burrito bowls, fresh guacamole and salsas and evening tacos for your guests.

Rural weddings around The Frenches have a charm of their own, and tacos served from a truck in a field add to it. Plan access, ground and cover in case of rain. We serve from the hatch of our truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

The Frenches questions

What’s the nearest station to The Frenches for guests?

Guests can use Mottisfont & Dunbridge station, about 2.5 miles north of The Frenches.

Could you serve our guests after a service at Church of All Saints?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we will check the access.

Can a taco bar feel special?

With good presentation, it feels like a celebration.

Can we add margaritas?

Yes, we have a drinks bar, with bar staff serving your guests. Alcohol needs the right licence, so we’ll check that with you.

Can you liaise with the venue coordinator?

Of course. We’re happy to talk to your venue about access, timings, power and water.

How much space do you need?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, and the venue’s agreement. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

What about supplier meals?

Yes. Add your suppliers to the final numbers.

Do you have vegan options?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan fillings, such as spiced mushrooms or black beans, can be part of the menu, served alongside the meat options.

Should I do it myself?

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

You can set up your own drinks table, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Where the truck can go in The Frenches

Access is the first thing to check for a truck or trailer. We need:

  • Power and water arrangements, confirmed with each booking
  • A route in that is wide and tall enough, with soft ground checked in advance
  • A sensible distance from buildings and neighbours

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before you book.

Planning for every diet

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Tell us how many evening guests to expect
  • Ask about diets and allergies with your RSVPs
  • Confirm the venue’s catering rules early
  • Let us know about severe allergies in writing

We pack down after service; you carry on celebrating.

A wider choice of salsas and toppings fills out the taco bar.

What happens on the day

Once service is over, we pack down and clear our own area. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. By late September, sunset in The Frenches is around 7:10pm, so an evening taco service may start as the light fades. In late May it stays light until about 8:55pm.

  1. We start by checking your date.
  2. You choose the fillings, sides and extras.
  3. We confirm the plan with your venue.
  4. Guests build their tacos at the taco bar or order at the hatch.
  5. We serve, then pack down.

How to prepare

  • Plan a covered area for guests if rain is likely
  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Ask the venue about power and water
