Bankside: your questions answered

Which station should guests use for Bankside?

Bankside has its own station: London Blackfriars station.

Can we hire your food truck for an event at home in Bankside?

It depends on the space: a drive, a courtyard or a parking bay suspended by the council can all work. We also need room for guests to queue at the hatch, and the ULEZ covers all of Greater London.

Can you keep it mild?

We can keep it mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

Do you have options for kids?

Yes, children are welcome. Tell us how many and roughly how old, and we’ll plan the menu with them in mind.

Do you cover Bankside?

Yes. We cater across London and the South East, including Bankside. To check your date, tell us about it on our contact page.

Do you do margaritas?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Alcohol at an event may need a licence, such as a premises licence or a Temporary Event Notice, so we’ll go through the licensing with you.

Can you serve in the rain?

We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, such as a marquee, gazebo or nearby building.

How much does food truck hire cost?

We quote for every hire, depending on numbers, menu, location and timings. For a price, tell us about it on our contact page.

Should I do it myself?

Plenty of people try a DIY taco night at home. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather enjoy the party, let us serve.

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

How it works

The truck or trailer tends to draw a crowd, so we will help you choose a spot with room for a queue. Rain doesn’t generally stop us serving, though guests will want somewhere covered to stand or sit. At midsummer, it stays light in Bankside until about 9:20pm, while late September brings sunset forward to around 7:05pm. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue at the hatch.

  1. Send us your date, the address, a headcount and dietary needs.
  2. You get a hatch menu and a quote for the hire.
  3. We confirm the parking spot, access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. We arrive, open the hatch and cook to order for your guests.
  5. When service ends, we pack up and leave the spot clear.

Before we arrive

  • Find out what power and water are available
  • Name one person we can ask on the day
  • Tell us when you want service to start

How to get a price

A detailed enquiry gets a more accurate quote: the venue, the timings, food or drinks or both, and the access. To send your details, fill in our quote form.

Before you choose a spot

We will be honest if a space will not work, and suggest an alternative. The main points are:

  • Somewhere for guests to sit or stand and eat
  • A way in wide and high enough for the vehicle
  • A spot away from neighbours

Bankside is in London, inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, which covers all of Greater London, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays, off-street space or a parking suspension.

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Why choose food truck hire in Bankside?

You don’t need a kitchen, so gardens, fields and grounds all become options with the venue’s agreement.

Whatever you are celebrating in Bankside, our food truck or trailer can be the centre of it. We are happy to cater:

  • Launch events
  • End-of-year parties
  • Weddings
  • Family reunions

Parks such as Bernie Spain Gardens typically need permission for vehicles and catering, so a garden or hired venue is often simpler.

What your quote should include

  • Exactly what’s included in the price
  • What the caterer needs from your venue
  • How many staff are serving, and for how long
  • When payment is due

Our caterer checklist

Working with your venue

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

If you’re planning an event on someone’s behalf, such as a wedding planner, an office manager or a festival organiser, we are happy to deal with you and the venue directly. It saves passing messages back and forth.

Planning for every diet

Every guest is catered for, vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free included. To get it right:

  • Check early that your venue allows food trucks
  • Share your running order
  • Check gate widths and any height limits
  • Send allergy details in writing

We arrive in the agreed window and park where we’ve arranged. Someone on site to meet us makes it smoother.

A taco-bar station can sit next to the truck.

Prices and what affects them

We will give you a clear quote. The main things that affect it are:

  • Timings and hours
  • How many guests we are serving
  • How many staff you need
  • Travel, parking and access

A food truck can be a practical alternative to plated catering, because it needs no venue kitchen. Ask us for a quote.

What we need to know

When you get in touch, it helps to tell us:

  • The venue or postcode
  • A photo of the space, if it is a garden or field
  • Access for the truck or trailer, including gates and ground
  • Roughly how many adults and children

Each quote is tailored to your event. Give us your date and numbers, and we’ll confirm whether we’re available that day.
