Food truck hire for Crumbles events

Questions from Crumbles

We are having a ceremony at St. Richard: can you cater afterwards?

Yes. The church itself is not where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Will you travel to a small place like Crumbles?

Yes, small places are no problem, given access. Tell us about lanes, gates, ground and parking.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

We confirm that with your quote. Tell us whether your venue has crockery or you’d prefer disposables and we will talk it through.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes, a taco bar is one of our options. Tell us about your space and numbers and we’ll recommend how to serve.

How long do you serve for?

It depends on your event. We agree arrival, service and pack-down times with you so everything fits your schedule.

How spicy is the food?

We can keep it mild, with hotter salsas on the side for anyone who wants more heat.

Do you have vegan options?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Tell us your numbers when you ask for a quote.

Can you do dairy-free food?

Yes, we can. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we will plan the menu around them.

About our food truck hire in Crumbles

You could pick fillings such as chicken tinga, carnitas or beef birria, with vegan choices like black bean and sweet potato. We plan for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free diets. At weddings and birthday parties, we will put together a menu of burrito bowls, fresh salsas and guacamole and quesadillas.

In a small place like Crumbles, a hired food truck might park in a garden, paddock or field. Tell us about narrow lanes, gates and long drives. Firm ground matters, especially after rain. We serve from the hatch of our food truck or trailer, or from a serving station, and we plan service so the queue keeps moving.

About the menu

Tacos from the hatch

Tacos are quick to serve and easy to eat standing up, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

Burrito bowls

Bowls suit anyone skipping tortillas, and they’re easy to adapt.

Organising for someone else?

If your event is in a public space, such as a park, check what permission you need first. We can send what the landowner or council needs from us.

For larger events, we plan serving points around your timings, so everyone is served promptly. Tell us how long you have for food and drinks.

How it compares

A private hire is not the same as a festival stall. At public events, anyone can buy; when you hire us, we serve only your guests, on your timings. Access, parking and the distance to your venue can affect the price, so tell us about the venue when you ask for a quote. Your quote confirms the full price.

What you get with us

  • A quote that sets out what’s included
  • Served fresh from our food truck or trailer
  • Set-up planned with you and your venue
  • We cover Crumbles and the whole of East Sussex

DIY taco night versus a caterer

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone still has to mix, pour and keep an eye on it all evening. See our margarita bar guide.

Doing it yourself saves money, but the host ends up in the kitchen. With a caterer, you get the food and drinks without the work.

Catering for every guest

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. Our advice:

  • Confirm the venue accepts outside caterers and vehicles
  • Guests with serious allergies should contact us first
  • Think about cover if the weather turns
  • Share your running order

We can serve through rain, though a marquee or gazebo helps guests stay dry.

Ask us about napkins, plates and cutlery and we will confirm what’s possible.

Space, access and the venue

No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space when you get in touch. Generally, we look for:

  • A spot away from neighbours
  • Agreement from the venue to bring in a catering vehicle
  • A flat parking spot on firm ground or hardstanding

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise.

What happens on the day

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, and we agree power and water arrangements before the day. Send us a photo of the space if you’re unsure. Evening events in Crumbles stay light until about 9:15pm at midsummer. Once it is dark, some lighting near the hatch makes ordering easier.

  1. First come the basics: date, location, numbers and diets.
  2. You get a hatch menu and a quote for the hire.
  3. Where the truck or trailer will stand, the route in, and power and water are all agreed in advance.
  4. Your guests order at the hatch and we serve hot food at the agreed times.
  5. Once guests are fed, we clear our area and head off.

Getting ready for the day

  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Find out what power and water are available

Planning help

Who books food truck hire in Crumbles?

Every order is cooked and served hot, not left standing on a buffet.

We can help if you are planning any of the following:

  • Anniversary celebrations
  • Garden parties
  • Staff appreciation days
  • Big birthdays

When the service is at a church such as St. Richard, the truck would serve at the reception venue rather than at the church.

Comparing caterers

  • The deadline for final numbers
  • When payment is due
  • VAT, if it applies
  • How each diet is kept separate
