Food truck hire in Lewes

Working with your venue

Planning an event for a club, school or charity in Lewes? Service from a truck or trailer is quick, even for a crowd, and the menu can suit most diets. Tell us about the event and we’ll suggest a menu.

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can check the date.

About our food truck hire in Lewes

Food truck hire means our truck or trailer is booked for your guests only. Unlike a stall at a festival or market, it’s a private hire, so the menu and timings are set around your event. We serve loaded nachos, fresh salsas and guacamole and vegan tacos, and it suits launch events and retirement parties.

In Lewes, drives and gardens vary a lot, and what matters is access and level ground. If it can’t, a car park nearby may work, with permission. Timings are planned around your event, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

Questions from Lewes

How far is Lewes from London?

About 43 miles from central London, and we cover it.

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Railway Land?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we will send what they need from us.

Do you take everything away?

Our area is packed away and left tidy. Let us know the venue’s rules on waste and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

How spicy is the food?

The food can be kept mild, and hotter salsas go on the side for guests who like heat.

Which areas do you serve?

London and the South East: Greater London, Kent, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire, including Lewes.

Is food truck hire good for weddings?

We can serve from the truck for the wedding meal, the evening or both. We fit service around your running order. See our food truck wedding guide.

Do you cater for vegetarian guests?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect, and we will keep their options separate.

How many guests can you serve?

Truck and trailer service normally suits around 50 to 400 guests. Festivals can be bigger, and smaller parties are quoted case by case. Tell us your numbers.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, and handles allergen information for you.

Running your own drinks table is one option, but someone has to serve all evening. Our margarita bar guide has tips.

Before you choose a spot

The route in matters as much as the spot itself. We need:

  • A clear area for a queue at the hatch
  • Level, solid ground for the vehicle
  • Enough width and height on the route in

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise before booking.

What we offer

  • Mexican drinks bar
  • Burritos
  • Tacos
  • Loaded nachos
  • Burrito bowls
  • Quesadillas

Dietary needs and planning tips

Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:

  • Ask about parking rules if we will be on a road
  • Check gate widths and any height limits
  • Tell us how many children are coming
  • Plan a covered area for guests to eat

Guests come to the hatch, order and wait a short moment for hot food.

Simple quesadillas suit younger guests, if you’d like a kids’ choice.

Food truck hire or something else?

Plated catering needs a kitchen tent, waiting staff and set courses. Our truck or trailer brings the kitchen and serves from one hatch, needing level ground, access and the venue’s permission. Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there’s no kitchen to hire. Ask us for a quote.

How the day works

On the day, we park the truck or trailer in the agreed spot and set up. Service starts at the time we’ve agreed, planned around your event. A Christmas party in Lewes with a hired food truck will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so ask the venue about outdoor lighting where we’ll park. At midsummer, sunset is around 9:15pm.

  1. Send us your date, the address, a headcount and dietary needs.
  2. We suggest a menu for the hatch and quote for it.
  3. Where the truck or trailer will stand, the route in, and power and water are all agreed in advance.
  4. We arrive, open the hatch and cook to order for your guests.
  5. When service ends, we pack up and leave the spot clear.

How to prepare

  • Tell us what power and water the site has
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
