Food truck hire for Crystal Palace events

How our food truck hire works in Crystal Palace

Guests walk up to the hatch, order and take their food away hot. It is simple, quick and sociable. It works well for christenings and family parties and back-garden parties, serving burrito bowls, vegan tacos and tacos from the hatch.

For a private or work event in Crystal Palace, our food truck or trailer parks up and guests order at the hatch. Tell us about the route in, height barriers and narrow entrances, and send a picture if you can. You’ll know what’s included before you book: menu, timings and any add-ons.

For planners, venues and organisers

For big numbers, we plan service to keep queues short, so everyone is served promptly. Let us know how long the break is.

For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can plan ahead.

How the day works

When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. Set-up and pack-down times are agreed with you and the venue. A Christmas party in Crystal Palace with a hired food truck will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so choose a well-lit spot for the truck or trailer. In late June, it stays light until about 9:20pm.

  1. Tell us what the event is and who’s coming.
  2. We suggest fillings and dishes for every diet.
  3. We check power, water and timings with the venue.
  4. The truck serves at the agreed times.
  5. Once service ends, we tidy up and go.

Preparing for the day

  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Have level hardstanding or firm ground ready

Before you choose a spot

Every venue is different, so we will ask about yours when you contact us. Generally, we look for:

  • Agreement from the venue to bring in a catering vehicle
  • Gate widths, overhead branches and soft ground checked in advance
  • Room for guests to gather at the hatch

As a London location, Crystal Palace is inside the ULEZ, and parking and loading take planning: let us know about permits, bays, off-street space or a parking suspension.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.

Is food truck hire right for your event?

A hog roast suits meat eaters well, but a Mexican menu covers vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests more easily. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. We will suggest options to suit your budget.

Why book with us

  • Service planned around your numbers
  • Menus for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests
  • A menu agreed with you
  • Everything served fresh from the hatch

Read how we price and our guide to catering costs.

Should I do it myself?

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

Events we cater in Crystal Palace

Every order is cooked and served hot, rather than waiting under foil.

We cater all kinds of occasions in Crystal Palace and nearby. Some of the most common are:

  • Leaving parties
  • Private outdoor parties
  • End-of-year celebrations
  • Milestone birthdays

A food truck in Crystal Palace Park would need the park owner’s agreement, so check that first.

  • How long the service runs
  • When final numbers are due
  • Where to see their hygiene rating

Questions to ask before you book

Your questions about food truck hire in Crystal Palace

Is parking a problem for events in Crystal Palace?

London parking needs planning: let us know about permits or off-street space. Some streets may need a parking suspension from the council, and all of Greater London is inside the ULEZ.

Can we hire your food truck for an event at home in Crystal Palace?

It depends on the space: a drive, a courtyard or a parking bay suspended by the council can all work. Guests order at the hatch, so we also need room for a queue, and all of Greater London is inside the ULEZ.

Do you do parties at home?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes, and we will tell you honestly whether it works.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

Yes, a taco bar is one of the ways we serve. Let us know your numbers and space and we will suggest the best set-up.

What happens if it rains?

Rain does not usually stop service from the truck or trailer. It is worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

When should we book?

The sooner the better. Peak dates go quickly, so contact us early.

Do you take everything away?

We pack down and leave our area tidy. Let us know the venue’s rules on waste and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

What’s on the menu?

Mexican street food and drinks: tacos and build-your-own taco bars, burritos, burrito bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.

How we price food truck hire

The same guest numbers can mean different prices, because of:

  • Plates, napkins and cutlery
  • Guest numbers
  • How long we’re needed on site
  • Food, drinks or both

Got a budget? Let us know, and we will suggest a menu to match. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

Details that help

You do not need everything decided to ask for a quote, but it helps to know:

  • Any dietary needs and allergies
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • A picture of where we’d park

Send us the date, your venue or SE19 postcode and guest numbers, plus any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. Just tell us about it on our contact page.

The menu, item by item

Loaded nachos

A tray of nachos works as a starter or a late snack; dairy-free versions can be planned.

Burritos

Rice, beans, a filling and salsa wrapped in a big tortilla.
