Food truck hire in Lightwater

About our food truck hire in Lightwater

Truck and trailer service typically suits around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller parties are quoted case by case. At client events and product launches and retirement parties, we’ll put together a menu of tacos from the hatch, burrito bowls and fresh salsas and guacamole and more.

For a place the size of Lightwater, food truck hire at your own home is often simplest: no venue hire, and guests order at the hatch. Tell us about the lane and the drive. You’ll know what’s included before you book: the menu, the service time and any extras you choose.

What food truck hire costs

Your quote will be clear. The main things that affect it are:

  • The length of service
  • The number of people
  • Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
  • What the venue already provides

Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you choose what goes in.

What to tell us

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what to include:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
  • A picture of the space, if it’s a garden or field
  • Your menu ideas

Every quote is put together for your event. Tell us your date and guest numbers, and we’ll check availability at the same time.

How the day works

A typical event goes like this: we park up and get ready, we open the hatch when you are ready, and we serve your guests fresh for the agreed time. By late September, it’s dark in Lightwater at around 7:05pm, so evening service from the truck may run past dusk. A late-May event keeps its light until roughly 8:55pm.

  1. Check our availability for your date.
  2. We agree a hatch menu and send a quote.
  3. We confirm the parking spot and the route in.
  4. On the day, guests order at the hatch and we cook to order.
  5. We pack down and drive away when service ends.

Before we arrive

  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Measure any gates or arches on the way in
  • Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve

  • Parking arrangements if we are not on private land
  • Firm, level ground or hardstanding where the truck or trailer can park

Not sure about your space? Send us a picture and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

Questions to ask before you book

Should I do it myself?

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it is more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Our taco bar guide explains how.

The menu, item by item

Salsas and guacamole

Fresh salsas and guacamole, made for your event.

Tacos from the hatch

A taco is ideal food from a truck, and corn tortillas suit gluten-free guests.

Lightwater questions

Can you cater a reception after a service at All Saints?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Is it possible to have you in Brentmoor Heath?

Only with permission from whoever runs the park, often the council. Check with them, and we will provide what they ask for from us.

What if the weather’s bad?

Rain doesn’t normally stop service from the truck or trailer. It’s worth planning a covered area for guests, and let us know if the ground gets soft after heavy rain.

Do you cook on site?

We slow-cook fillings ahead, then finish them and keep them hot at your event. Tortillas are warmed on site, and salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

What food and drinks do you offer?

We agree a sample menu with each client. Fillings might include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. See our menu for ideas.

When should we book?

The sooner the better. Peak dates go quickly, so contact us early.

Can you keep it mild?

That is your choice: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately. Read more about how spicy Mexican food is.

How does private food truck hire work?

Our truck or trailer comes to your venue and serves your guests from the hatch. Only your guests are served.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Nearly every event has some special diets. To cater well for them:

  • Agree service times with us
  • Email us any allergies
  • Measure gates and look for low branches on the way in
  • Give us separate numbers for children

We keep allergen information for every dish at the hatch.

Tell us what serveware you need and we will confirm the options in your quote.

Is food truck hire right for your event?

A DIY barbecue keeps a host at the grill. Hire the truck and the cooking is ours so you can join in. Pricing depends on the event. A simple party menu and a full wedding day are very different jobs. Contact us for a quote.
