Food truck hire in Ovingdean, served fresh

Truck and trailer service usually suits around 50 to 400 guests. Smaller gatherings are looked at case by case, so tell us how many you expect. It suits leaving dos and retirements and private outdoor parties, serving loaded nachos, burritos and burrito bowls.

In a rural place like Ovingdean, access is the main thing to plan for a hired truck: gate widths, soft ground and the route from the road all matter. We confirm power and water arrangements with you. Timings are planned around your event, whether that is speeches, a lunch break or a festival schedule.

The menu, item by item

Burritos

A large flour tortilla rolled round rice, beans, a filling and toppings.

Burrito bowls

Everything from a burrito, served in a bowl.

The process

The truck or trailer needs a level, firm spot with access to drive in, and we agree power and water arrangements before the day. Send us a photo of the space if you’re unsure. By late September, it’s dark in Ovingdean at around 7:05pm, so evening service from the truck may run past dusk. In late May, daylight lasts until about 8:50pm.

  1. Send us your date, the address, a headcount and dietary needs.
  2. You get a hatch menu and a quote for the hire.
  3. We confirm the parking spot, access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. We arrive, open the hatch and cook to order for your guests.
  5. Once guests are fed, we clear our area and head off.

How to prepare

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough
  • Share the running order, including any speeches

Is food truck hire right for your event?

Hiring a food truck is different from finding one at a festival. At a festival we trade to the public; a private hire means your guests, your menu and your timings. There is no one-size-fits-all price for food truck hire. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Contact us for a quote.

Common questions in Ovingdean

Could you come to a seaside event near Ovingdean?

Yes, as long as the site allows it and the ground is firm. Wind, sand and seafront permissions are the main things to plan on the coast.

Can you bring a truck or trailer to venues in the South Downs National Park?

We do, where the venue allows a catering vehicle. Lanes can be narrow and ground soft, so tell us how we’d get in.

What do you need at the venue?

Level, firm ground or hardstanding for the truck or trailer, and a route in it can fit through, plus the venue’s permission. Power and water arrangements are confirmed with each booking.

How much does food truck hire cost?

Each hire is quoted individually, based on guest numbers, the menu, the location and service times. For a price, tell us about it on our contact page.

Is the food very hot?

That is your choice: we can keep the main dishes mild, with hotter salsas served separately.

What happens if it rains?

Rain doesn’t normally stop service from the truck or trailer. It is worth planning a covered area for guests, and tell us if heavy rain could make the ground soft.

Where do you cater?

London and the South East: Greater London, Kent and Medway, Surrey, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Do you do food truck hire for weddings?

A food truck suits a relaxed wedding well, especially in the evening. We agree access and timings with the venue.

Planners, venues and businesses

If you run the same event each year, tell us your dates early, so we can check the date.

Venues often have their own rules about outside caterers: where vehicles can park, access times and the paperwork they need. Send us your venue’s requirements and we’ll follow them.

Should I do it myself?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, with allergen information for every dish.

A DIY taco night is possible for a crowd, but it’s more work than it looks. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Diets, allergies and planning

With a little notice, most diets are easy. Our advice:

  • Give us separate numbers for children
  • Walk the access route and note narrow gaps
  • Have shelter ready in case of rain
  • Tell us when guests should eat

When service ends, we pack away and drive off quietly.

Ask about a second service later in the evening.

Where the truck can go in Ovingdean

If a space isn’t suitable, we will tell you. The main points are:

  • Room for guests to gather at the hatch
  • Power and water details confirmed in advance
  • A flat parking spot on firm ground or hardstanding

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we will advise before booking.
