Planning for every diet
Dietary needs are easy to plan for with a little notice. We suggest:
- Think about cover if the weather turns
- Ask guests about dietary needs when they reply
- Confirm the venue accepts outside caterers and vehicles
- Walk the access route and note narrow gaps
We drive in at the agreed time and park in the planned spot. It helps if someone can meet us on arrival.
Ask us about evening food later on.
For event organisers in Surrey Canal
If you’re organising for someone else, whether you are a planner, an office manager or an event organiser, we will work directly with you and the venue. It keeps things simple.
For repeat events, such as annual staff parties or seasonal fairs, let us know your dates early, so we can check the date.
Planning food truck hire around Surrey Canal
Surrey Canal is about 1 mile north-west of New Cross, in Greater London. Tell us where your event in Surrey Canal will be, and we will plan access and set-up before the day. Surrey Canal is one of 764 places in Greater London we cover.
Guests leaving a church like St Katharine with St Bartholomew could walk or drive to a nearby garden or hall where the truck is ready. For guests coming by train, Surrey Canal has its own station, South Bermondsey station.
We cater events across the SE16, SE15 and SE14 postcode area. From Pump Lane, Bush Road and Water Lane or anywhere nearby, we can bring food truck hire there, given access. Surrey Canal sits on or near the A200 and A2208, so getting the truck or trailer to your event is simple. Close by, we cover events in South Bermondsey (1 mile west), Surrey Quays (1 mile north-east), Rotherhithe (1 mile north), Peckham (1 mile south-west) and Deptford (1 mile south-east). Larger places within reach include City of Westminster (5 miles north-west), Marylebone (5 miles north-west), Kensington (7 miles west), St Pancras (4 miles north-west), Shoreditch (3 miles north-west) and Walthamstow (7 miles north).

- Pubs nearby include The Surrey Docks pub (0.5 miles north)
Before you choose a spot
No two venues are the same, so we ask about the space before we confirm. In general, we need:
- Power and water, confirmed with each booking
- Gate widths, overhead branches and soft ground checked in advance
- A parking suspension, where a street spot is needed
Surrey Canal is in London, inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, which covers all of Greater London, and parking can be tight: tell us about parking bays, permits, a driveway or whether a parking suspension is needed.
If you’re unsure, send a picture of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

How we price food truck hire
Two events with the same number of guests can cost different amounts, because of:
- Staff for serving and the bar
- Your choice of food and drinks
- What the venue already provides
- Adding food to drinks, or drinks to food
Cost depends on guest numbers, the menu and the length of service, plus any add-ons and the location. We quote for each event individually.
What to tell us
For a quote, it helps to have:
- Your date and when you want service to start
- Whether you’d like food, drinks or both
- The venue or postcode
- Vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free and allergy numbers
Tell us your date, venue or postcode and roughly how many guests, plus any dietary needs, and we’ll reply with a menu suggestion and a quote. To get started, tell us about it on our contact page.
Surrey Canal questions
Is it possible to have you in Deptford Park?
Only with permission from whoever runs the park, often the council. Check with them, and we will provide what they ask for from us.
We’re having a ceremony at St Katharine with St Bartholomew: can you cater afterwards?
Yes, at a nearby garden, marquee or hall with access for the truck or trailer. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.
What do you need at the venue?
Level, firm ground or hardstanding, access wide and high enough to drive in, and the venue’s permission. We confirm power and water when you book.
How does food truck hire work?
Our food truck or trailer comes to your venue and serves your guests from the hatch. Only your guests are served.
Can you plan for allergies?
Yes. Tell us about allergies when you book. UK law requires caterers to provide information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.
What happens if it rains?
We can keep serving from the truck or trailer in the rain, but guests need somewhere covered to eat and drink, like a marquee or gazebo.
Do you cater for dietary needs?
We plan for diets before the day, but we can’t promise an allergen-free kitchen. Guests with severe allergies should talk to us first.
Can you run a bar?
Yes. Our drinks bar can be booked on its own or with food, with alcohol-free options such as aguas frescas. We will check the licensing for alcohol with you.
Food truck hire or something else?
Hiring a food truck is different from finding one at a festival. At a festival we trade to the public; when you hire us, we serve only your guests, on your timings. Extras, such as more dishes, extra drinks or a longer service, are quoted on request, so you can choose what you need.
Why book with us
- Catering across Greater London, including Surrey Canal
- Menus chosen with you
- Service planned around your numbers
- Options for gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan guests

How the day works
Once service is over, we pack up and leave our area tidy. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. A Christmas party in Surrey Canal with a hired food truck will be in the dark from about 3:55pm, so choose a well-lit spot for the truck or trailer. In late June, it stays light until about 9:20pm.
- Check our availability for your date.
- You get a menu for the hatch and a quote.
- We confirm the parking spot and the route in.
- We drive in, open the hatch and serve your guests.
- After service, we close up and leave the spot clear.
Getting ready for the day
- Get the venue’s permission for us to park and serve
- Measure any gates or arches on the way in
- Give us your final numbers and diets
