Planning an event in Bermondsey?

How our food truck hire works in Bermondsey

We bring the truck or trailer to private and work events in and around Bermondsey. It works well for family celebrations and client events and product launches, serving loaded nachos, burritos and tacos from the hatch.

In Bermondsey, a yard, forecourt or car park can suit a hired food truck. The truck or trailer needs level ground and space for guests to queue, plus your venue’s agreement. We prepare everything fresh for your event and serve it straight from our truck or trailer, so guests get it at its best.

Dietary needs and planning tips

Nearly every event has some special diets. To plan for them:

  • Confirm the venue accepts outside caterers and vehicles
  • Ask about parking rules if we’ll be on a road
  • Confirm allergies with us in writing
  • Agree service times with us

At the end of service, we close the hatch and pack down and drive off quietly.

Ask us about napkins, plates and cutlery and we will confirm what’s possible.

DIY taco night versus a caterer

For a small group, a taco night at home can work well. For big numbers or lots of diets, a caterer makes life easier, with allergen information for every dish.

Doing it yourself? Start with the quantities: see how many tacos per person. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

What happens on the day

From set-up to service, we look after everything you’ve booked from us, so you can enjoy your event. By late September, it is dark in Bermondsey at around 7:05pm, so evening service from the truck may run past dusk. In late May, daylight lasts until about 8:50pm.

  1. Ask us whether your date is available.
  2. We agree a hatch menu and send a quote.
  3. We confirm the parking spot and the route in.
  4. We drive in, open the hatch and serve your guests.
  5. We pack down and drive away when service ends.

How to prepare

  • Arrange somewhere covered for guests to eat
  • Give us your final numbers and diets
  • Ask the venue about power and water

Questions from Bermondsey

Can you bring your truck or trailer to Bermondsey Spa Gardens?

Only if the landowner, often the council, allows it. Ask them first, and we will help with the information they need from us.

Which station is closest to Bermondsey?

Guests can use London Bridge station, about 0.7 miles north-west of Bermondsey.

Can we have a build-your-own taco bar?

Yes. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas and toppings to choose from. Read our taco bar guide.

How does private food truck hire work?

Our truck or trailer comes to your venue and serves your guests from the hatch. Only your guests are served.

How is the food prepared?

Fillings are slow-cooked in advance, then finished and kept hot on site. Tortillas are warmed on site, and salsas and guacamole are made fresh.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Let us know how many vegetarian and vegan guests to expect.

Are plates and napkins included?

That’s confirmed with each quote. Tell us whether your venue has crockery or you’d prefer disposables and we will talk it through.

What’s on the menu?

Mexican street food: tacos, taco bars, burritos, bowls, nachos and quesadillas, with salsas, guacamole and toppings. A drinks bar is available too.

Space, access and the venue

We’ll be honest if a space will not work, and help find another spot. What matters most:

  • Level, solid ground for the vehicle
  • Room for guests to gather at the hatch
  • A place for guests to eat close to the hatch

Bermondsey is in London, inside the Ultra Low Emission Zone, which covers all of Greater London, and parking can be tight: let us know about permits, bays, off-street space or a parking suspension.

If you’re unsure, send a photo of the space and the way in, and we’ll say what we think.

Is food truck hire right for your event?

For food that becomes part of the event, a private food truck is a strong option in Bermondsey. Catering from a truck or trailer can be a practical alternative to a sit-down meal, as there is no kitchen to hire. Ask us for a quote.
