Food truck hire for your event in Underhill

Guests walk up to the hatch, order and take their food away hot. It is simple, quick and sociable for guests and hosts. On the menu are vegan tacos, tacos from the hatch and burrito bowls, which works well for private parties in fields and grounds and wedding receptions.

Hiring a food truck in Underhill starts with where it can park. A courtyard, forecourt or drive can work, with permission, and some streets may need a parking suspension from the council. All of Greater London is inside the ULEZ. We prepare everything fresh for your event and serve it straight from our truck or trailer.

Diets, allergies and planning

Mixed diets are straightforward to plan for, because options can be kept separate. Here are a few tips for planning:

  • Flag any coeliac guests
  • Walk the access route and note narrow gaps
  • Send allergy details in writing
  • Tell us when guests should eat

We arrive in the agreed window and park where we have arranged. It helps if someone can meet us on arrival.

Simple quesadillas suit younger guests.

Can I do a taco night myself?

A DIY taco night works well for a small group. For larger numbers, mixed diets or a wedding, a caterer takes the pressure off, and handles allergen information for you.

Weighing up a DIY taco night against a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Ask us for a quote and compare.

Comparing your options

A hog roast suits meat eaters well, but tacos and bowls make vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free guests easier to feed. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so share your ideas with us. Tell us your budget and we’ll suggest a menu.

What you get with us

  • Menus chosen with you
  • Book food, drinks or both
  • Allergen information for everything we serve
  • A plan agreed before the day

Read our prices page and what Mexican catering costs.

Planning the serving area

We will agree the spot with you before the day. A good spot ticks these boxes:

  • Level, solid ground for the vehicle
  • A parking suspension, where a street spot is needed
  • A way in wide and high enough for the vehicle

London streets around Underhill can be narrow and busy, and all of Greater London sits inside the ULEZ. Tell us about loading, permits and any parking suspension when you enquire.

If in doubt, send us a picture of the spot and the access, and we’ll advise.

FAQs for Underhill

Could you serve in Highlands Gardens?

It depends on the park’s owner, who would need to agree to a catering vehicle on site. Ask them first; if they say yes, we’ll send what they need from us.

Could you serve our guests after a service at St John the Baptist Church?

Yes. The church itself isn’t where we’d set up, but a hall, field or garden close by with room for the truck or trailer can work well. Let us know the reception address and we’ll check the access.

Is the truck suitable for a large group?

It depends on the event and how long service runs. As a guide, it’s around 50 to 400 guests.

Can guests build their own tacos?

We can. We can set up a build-your-own taco bar, served from the truck or a serving table, with fillings, salsas, guacamole and toppings.

What about power on site?

Let us know what’s available on site, for instance a supply from the venue, and we’ll confirm the arrangements with your quote.

How long do you serve for?

It depends on your event. Timings are agreed in advance to suit your day.

Can you plan for allergies?

Yes, and it helps to hear about allergies when you book. Under UK rules, caterers must give information on 14 allergens, and we give it for every dish (Food Standards Agency guidance). Anyone with a severe allergy should speak to us before the event.

How does private food truck hire work?

We bring our food truck or trailer to your venue, park in the agreed spot and serve your guests from the hatch. It is a private booking for your guests only.

Popular choices

Salsas and guacamole

Fresh salsas and guacamole, made for your event.

Quesadillas

Toasted tortillas with melted cheese and a filling, cut into wedges.

How the day works

We need a level, firm spot we can drive the truck or trailer onto, and we agree power and water arrangements before the day. A photo of the space helps. At midsummer, it stays light in Underhill until about 9:20pm, and by late September sunset is about 7:05pm. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue at the hatch.

  1. First come the basics: date, location, numbers and diets.
  2. We suggest a menu for the hatch and quote for it.
  3. We confirm the parking spot, access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. On the day we drive in, set up and serve to order from the hatch.
  5. When service ends, we pack up and leave the spot clear.

Preparing for the day

  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Tell us about narrow gates or low branches
  • Give us a contact for the day

How to get a price
