Questions from Wash Common

How far is Wash Common from London?

Roughly 55 miles from the centre of London, and well within our area.

What’s the nearest station to Wash Common for guests?

Guests can use Newbury station, about 1.8 miles north-east of Wash Common.

What do you need at the venue?

Send us the address and a description of the spot, and we’ll check it works. Our guide to space and power has more.

Can we add drinks?

Our Mexican drinks bar can be added to a truck booking, with margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas. We’ll talk licensing through with you.

How far ahead should we book?

As soon as you have a date. Peak dates go quickly, so contact us early.

Can you come to a private house?

Yes, if the truck or trailer can get in and park on level, firm ground. Tell us about the drive, gates and any slopes, and we’ll tell you honestly whether it works.

How many guests can you serve?

It depends on the menu and how long service runs, but around 50 to 400 guests is the usual range. For anything outside that, ask us.

Do you need power and water?

Tell us what the site has, such as a supply from the venue near where we will park, and we’ll confirm what we need with your quote.

How our food truck hire works in Wash Common

Pair the truck with our Mexican drinks bar for margaritas, Mexican beer and aguas frescas. A build-your-own taco bar can sit beside the truck too. At engagement parties and big birthdays, we can serve burrito bowls, fresh salsas and guacamole and vegan tacos.

In and around Wash Common, our truck or trailer can work at home, in a field or at a hall. Narrow roads and soft ground are fine if we know about them. We prepare everything fresh for your event and serve it straight from our truck or trailer.

Catering for every guest

We cater for vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free guests. To get it right:

  • Measure gates and look for low branches on the way in
  • Add a dietary question to the invitation
  • Look into parking permissions if the truck cannot go off-road
  • Ask guests with severe allergies to speak to us beforehand

We arrive in the agreed window and park where we have arranged. It helps if someone can meet us on arrival.

Ask about a second service later in the evening, quoted with the main booking.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

Some hosts like to do it themselves. Common snags are cold tortillas, uneven quantities and the host missing the party. If you’d rather be with your guests, we will do the serving.

If you do it yourself, work out quantities first: our guide to how many tacos per person helps. Keep warmed tortillas covered, and label dishes for guests with allergies.

How it compares

A marquee kitchen with plated service needs more space, more staff and more time. Our truck or trailer brings the kitchen and serves from one hatch. Pricing depends on the event. A short lunch service for a team is a different job from a full wedding day. Contact us for a quote.

The process

Expect a friendly, organised team. We agree arrival and serving times in advance, set up our food truck or trailer, and serve without fuss. By late September, it’s dark in Wash Common at around 7:10pm, so evening service from the truck may run past dusk. A late-May event keeps its light until roughly 8:55pm.

  1. First come the basics: date, location, numbers and diets.
  2. We check availability and send a menu and a quote for hiring the truck or trailer.
  3. We confirm the parking spot, access, power and water with you or the venue.
  4. Your guests order at the hatch and we serve hot food at the agreed times.
  5. Once guests are fed, we clear our area and head off.

Getting ready for the day

  • Let us know who to talk to on the day
  • Have a marquee or gazebo ready in case of rain
  • Check gates and access routes are wide and high enough

How to compare caterers

What food truck hire costs

Every event is priced individually, and the price depends on a few things:

  • How many guests we are serving
  • How many staff you need
  • The menu you choose
  • What the venue already provides

Comparing caterers? Look at what each quote includes: service time, staff, plates and napkins, travel and VAT. Our quote sets out what’s included.

Getting an accurate quote

A few details help us give you an accurate quote. Here’s what’s useful:

  • The date and time of the event
  • Approximate guest numbers, including children
  • Gate widths, slopes and the ground
  • Diets and allergies you know about

Getting a quote is simple: share your date, venue, numbers and diets. We will send you a clear quote and a suggested menu.
