Common questions in Willingdon

Can you serve near the sea around Willingdon?

We can, given firm ground and the landowner’s permission. Beaches and promenades typically need the council’s agreement, so check that first.

Can you cater a reception after a service at The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Tell us where the reception will be.

How does food truck hire work?

We bring our truck or trailer to your venue, park in the agreed spot and serve your guests from the hatch. Only your guests are served.

What does it cost to hire the truck?

We don’t publish set prices, because each hire is different. Send your details and you will get a quote. See the Mexican catering cost guide for background.

Do you provide plates and napkins?

Please ask us. Tell us what your venue provides, and we will set out plates, napkins and cutlery in your quote.

Is the truck suitable for a large group?

It depends on the event and how long service runs. As a guide, it’s around 50 to 400 guests.

Can you run a bar?

Yes, we offer a Mexican drinks bar, serving margaritas, Mexican beer, aguas frescas such as hibiscus and horchata, and soft drinks. Your venue or event may need the right licence for alcohol, so we’ll check the licensing with you.

How far ahead should we book?

Early, particularly for summer Saturdays. Ask about your date even if it is soon.

DIY taco night or a caterer?

You can host your own taco night for a crowd, but it takes planning. Fillings need slow cooking, tortillas need warming as you go, and salsas need making. Read our guide to taco bars.

Not sure whether to do it yourself or book a caterer? Consider your numbers, your guests’ diets and your own time. Contact us for a quote to compare.

How it compares

A private hire is not the same as a festival stall. At public events, anyone can buy; when you hire us, we serve only your guests, on your timings. Your choice of food and drinks affects the price, so tell us what you have in mind. Tell us your budget and we will suggest a menu.

Why book with us

  • A truck or trailer that comes to you
  • A menu built around your guests
  • Allergen-aware menus

The process

When service finishes, we pack down and clear our own area. We agree set-up and pack-down times with you and your venue. A hired food truck at a summer event in Willingdon can serve in daylight until about 9:15pm at midsummer, while late September brings sunset forward to around 7:00pm. For winter events, dark by about 3:55pm, plan lighting where guests queue at the hatch.

  1. Share your plans for the event.
  2. We suggest fillings and dishes for every diet.
  3. Power, water and timings are agreed with you or the venue.
  4. The truck serves at the agreed times.
  5. When everyone is fed, we clear our area.
