Burrito bowls are a good choice for anyone avoiding tortillas.

Mexican catering in Cross Lane, from our food truck or trailer

Few things get guests chatting like a build-your-own taco bar. Guests fill their own tortillas from the fillings, salsas and toppings, so each plate is exactly how they like it. At christenings and family parties and engagement and anniversary parties, we’ll put together a menu of quesadillas, fresh salsas and guacamole and burritos.

A place like Cross Lane may have a hall or a club with a car park nearby; a truck or trailer can work at any of them, with permission and a level spot. Access, space and power are agreed with you beforehand, so set-up goes smoothly.

Step by step

Guests tend to gather around the truck, so we plan a spot with space for people to queue. We can serve in the rain, though guests will want somewhere covered to stand or sit. From late May to late September, sunset in Cross Lane moves from about 8:55pm to 7:10pm. Let us know if service will run after dark, and we’ll talk about lighting.

  1. Send us your date, numbers and venue.
  2. Together we plan a menu around your guests’ diets.
  3. We check the route in and where the truck or trailer will stand.
  4. Food is served from the hatch or a taco-bar table.
  5. We clear our serving area when everyone is fed.

How to prepare

  • Ask the venue about power and water
  • Tell us when you want service to start
  • Let us know who to talk to on the day

Cross Lane: your questions answered

Do you cater at coastal events near Cross Lane?

Yes, as long as the site allows it and the ground is firm. Seafront and beach spots normally need permission, and wind is the main thing to plan for.

Can you cater a reception after a service at St Paul's Church?

Yes, at a garden, field or venue nearby where the truck or trailer can park. Service would be at the reception venue, not the church. Send us the reception address.

Can you cater in a back garden?

It depends on access. If the truck or trailer can’t reach the garden, a drive or a spot nearby may work, with permission. Tell us about the space and we’ll advise.

Can guests build their own tacos?

Yes, a taco bar is one of our options. Tell us about your space and numbers and we will recommend how to serve.

Can you cater for vegetarians and vegans?

Yes, and we plan them in from the start. Tell us your numbers when you ask for a quote, and we will keep their options separate.

Can you do dairy-free food?

Yes, on request. Tell us how many guests need dairy-free food, and we will include them in the plan.

What do you serve?

Every menu is agreed with you. Fillings could include chicken tinga, pork carnitas, al pastor-style pork and vegan options like black beans. Our sample menu has more ideas.

Do you provide allergen information for each dish?

Our menus are planned with allergies in mind, nut allergies included, and give allergen information for every dish. We keep options separate, but we cannot promise anything is completely allergen-free. If a guest has a severe allergy, please talk to us before the event.

Is Mexican catering right for your event?

A drop-off platter is easy, but nobody remembers it. Hot food served from a truck feels like part of the event. If you have a budget in mind, tell us, and we will suggest a menu that fits. Even a simple menu can feel generous.

What you get with us
